What transmission did you use in this project?

Started with stock rx8 moved to T56 (current) and moving to tiptronic. Which is in Puerto Rico waiting for the t56 to break. The t56 is holding ok but Ive tried many clutches, double and triple disk and they keep breaking. So once this one goes I will be going automatic.

They can take the tranny you have and install custom parts creating a bulletproof tranny.

here is my build sheet

Level 10 Custom valve body calibrated for the exact application.
Level 10 Super high pressure oil pump for max pressure and cooling
Level 10 Hi- Energy clutches and steels
Level 10 Viton seals and Hi- temp poly acrylic o-rings and gaskets.
Level 10 Hi Performance Torque converter upgrade, custom built, stalled, and strengthened for exact application.

No dyno yet. The truth is I want to have the car 100% ready before I fly the guy from PR to Fine tune it and dyno it. I feel the car is ready now and ready for Dyno and fine tunning. The car feels good, lots of power, But I won't take it to the dyno unless my tuner is here to work his magic. I do use it and have lots of fun. I will take it to the dyno though, just to have some numbers and pump up the psi to 15-20.

I paid top dollars to have mine done right, but Again at this point I dont take any options off the table. I have broken so many trannies and clutches that I wouldn't be surprised if the one I just had built breaks.. If it does, I will have your recomendations in mind.

What clutches are you using that you have been breaking. I know the C5Rs use a modified clutch setup when they ran the T-56s and I know 1000hp vipers still using the T-56 without problems.

Good gawd dude, that **** is so wicked I chuckled a little. 15 - 20 psi on a turbo bit enough to swallow a small chupacabras...mmmm.

HKS ( dual Disk) , Exedy ( dual disk) , Competition clutch ( dual disk), Spec ( triple disk, current setup).
Do vipers rev to 11,000 rpm. This might be helping the braking ( who knows). lets see how the triple disk holds. either or I'm kinda want to try the tiptronic tranny.

Your competition coupe vipers are running a built t-56 with a triple or quad disc clutch setup and they will rev to 10K.

Some of the 6-speed drag cars are only revving to 9000 or so, but they are also making 1500+ rwhp.

well, what can I say. It is what it is. Don't see any reason for saying I have had problems with them if I didn't. They are kinda expensive for me to just change them. Anyways I have tried several times with several brands wuith no luck. So, what can i say. Next step is auto.

Wasn't doubting anything Angel. Just finding it hard to comprehend that the 3 rotor is putting that much force on the clutches that you are having problems, but I learn something new every day.

Before you change the transmission, would you mind taking some good pictures of your t56 install? Any other details about it that you could share?

I've seen this done to a FD before but have yet to see it done in a RX-8.
