I traded my 04 in for a S2000 in September. You will love it. The car is so much fun to drive and it sounds like a damn exotic when it is in VTEC. No regrets here. I will tell you the sound system is absolutly horrible. I purchased a full ICE system for the car and hopefully will get around to installing it in the following months. Well....enjoy and look me up on S2ki.com

Silverstone?

No No Fear Red? Berlina? Grand Prix or Laguna? Or Rio?

To each his own.

s2000 is very much over-rated. they are nice but for the price the aren't worth it. the RX-8 is a better value for the money.

All depends on your goals. For me the 8 was a better value because 1) I don't fit in an S2K, and 2) The 8 has 4 seats while the S2K only seats 2 and has an even smaller trunk. Plus the 8 is cheaper with insurance. So all those variables made it the superior choice for me, but for others it can be different

Sorry dude, I have to disagree with you, if you have driven a S2000 and you are a true driver then you'd understand how the S drives like a go-kart with a VTEC engine... best thing you can drive and handle on the track!!

The RX8 is a very nice car, as far as value's concern most of us that bought brand new RX8s know that it is not a cheap car either!! The S2000 only cost a few grand more.

This is a great choice, Im also in the process to build a S2000~ it's prolly not gonna be a daily drive "again" with the things I wanna do with it lol! But enjoy the car and dont ever shift before 9K!!!

OK, you have a good point there. I have driven an S2000 and yes i had the opportunity to open it up. It does drive very well and handles like a champ, but for another 9k i don't think it's worth it. I just purchased a 40th anniversary RX-8 this christmas and love it, not to mention it still revs as high as the S2000, it does have the sports look, better radio system, more comfortable and way nicer wheels.

So you basically wasted his time when he could have been working with a real customer that was going to buy a car instead of someone that had a rediculous hidden agenda. And in my 13 years in this business there have only been a handful of people that have pulled out $6,000 in cash in front of me and I'm the finance director, the guy that takes your money. No one is really stupid enough to walk around with $6k cash in their pocket.

You sure showed him who's boss.

I'm sure he laughed at you with the rest of his staff for acting like a dick, and then sold the car to a real buyer.

I'm not going to say what My8DriftsMe did was right but do not assume the car salesman was on the up and up either. I have purchased several cars and the only time I did not have to "play" the game was going through an auto broker.

I love auto brokers. They play the game for you, and most of the time dealerships have an established agreement with them. We spiff them for the sale, they "negotiate for the customer" and then charge you for their service. Don't take this the wrong way but it's not EVER the best deal I promise. You're paying someone to "negotiate" for you that is getting paid by the dealership or auction for selling you a car. This person has already negotiated a certain profit margin for the store they take you to or buy the car from.

Most used cars are marked up anywhere from $3k to $5k and if you manage to make the dealership sell where they only make $1,500 that is an average gross for that car, even though it is still low. The best price on any car is based on a fair deal for the dealership and a fair deal for the customer.

I'd like to chime in and state I just bought an S2000. I owned an RX8 for about 2 years. I have to admit, the 8 is a much nicer overall ride as far as comfort is concerned; however, considering all of the issues I have had with it... and the crappy service I have received from dealers, I feel like the switch was a good choice.

It really feels like the RX8 is more powerful, but the reliability of the S2000 trumped the rotary. The biggest issue is the fact that you more than likely have to go to a Mazda dealer for all of your work. No one else will really touch the car. I hope you enjoy your buy.

He said he was considering buying it but the guy was an ***.

I know the feeling. I was seriously considering buying an STI, went to the dealership to check some out. The guy was an absolute *** and thought i just wanted a joyride. He said, "we don't let anybody test drive these, they are like an exotic car". I said, "the car is only $35000, what do you mean it's like an exotic"? What a (as are most car salesmen)

Point is, when the salesman doesn't let you drive the car, he's basically saying, "you don't look like you can afford this car and are just here to drive an expensive car". It's a slap in the face. Why would i buy a car from an *** like that?

When i bought my 8, they insisted i drive it first, told me it sells itself on the test drive. Still pretty lame sales pitch, but it worked. I bought the 8.

I have to disagree with that guy SHOWOFF on "noone is stupid enough to carry 6K in cash and walk around" thing. There are so many people in US alone who carry tons of cash and walk around. lol For example; Famous Rappers, Young celebrities. One time I was watching VH1 show about famous young hip-hop stars and one of them said he always carried about 10,000 to 20,000 in cash whenever he went to clubs and shopping. So there you have it!

I love S2000's. My bud has a sick one but its just too cramp for me and Im not a big guy. The Miata interior is way better IMO. Too bad the Miata does not have the power.
