I had the same thing almost happen to me the other day. getting onto the free way, straight on ramp, traffic lights weren't on. Car in front of me accelerating to freeway speeds, but I was hanging back because I've seen people do stupid things too often. Sure enough this lady SLAMMED on her brakes right before the lights (that were still off btw). The weird part is that she start decelerating quickly before her brake lights ever came on. Either her relay is bad or she was using some ebrake before the brake pedal.

I had a very safe distance behind her and was able to simply veer into the carpool lane and pass her.. the car behind me (following way too close on my ***) didn't react in time and I was able to see the collision in my rearview.

After thinking about what a dumb $(*^#$(^ she was for awhile I came to the conclusion that she was trying to get hit. It was almost time for the traffic lights to come on, and I'm sure that by the time everyone got out and asked if people were ok the lights would be on.. in short, i'm thinking insurance scam.

I called the highway patrol the next day and gave them my info in case the guy who did hit her needs a witness to what occurred.

I'm just glad to hear that you're ok Alzorz. People might have all kinds of reason to turn their noses at 8's but they do their best to keep the occupants safe in an impact.

Wow man that was totally unexpected man, good thing you are alright. I doubt that the car is totaled, but in any case I say you should fix it up, you put a lot of effort into the car, don't throw that away

Also, my dad is like one of those driver's as Laythor said, but he doesn't purposely try to get his car totaled, instead he just sucks *** at driving... Like the other day, my dad missed the turn on a boulevard street @ traffic time and he slammed the brakes right in front of a green light. Seriously, he could've got us killed and hes been driving for 30 some odd years... Damn Asian Parents.

But I'm really sorry to hear about that, that is the worst feeling.

There is no accusations to be made. He recounted his story. Someone tried to lay fault on the person ahead. Fine, maybe they should not have stopped suddenly, maybe it was totally out of the blue, but ask any insurance company where fault lies and I guarantee they won't lay it all on the "*******" who stops ahead of everyone. If you rear end somebody, it's ALWAYS at least partially your fault for being to close to react and avoid.

Like I said, I'm not trying to **** on him, it's a crap situation and I hope it gets fixed. I was just commenting on the other guys retarded statement.

You still don't stop on a friggin on ramp.......ever......get real!

I guess it could have been the one in ten thousand that actually have a stop mechanism/device on them,
but highly doubtful.

We all know it is automatically your fault if you hit someone from behind, but you pull that **** on me.....on an on ramp............. you're going to the hospital(more than likely), and I'm headed to jail.

That's fine. I know what you are saying. But Al may not have been following that close. When you are in that situation, you are probably going fairly quickly. If someone slams on their brakes in front of you unexpected, even if they are 15 feet in front of you....it will be a close call. And I understand who the insurance company will place blame on in situations like this. Doesn't mean it is correct though.

I'll let Al answer it though. I could be wrong as well. Just saying.

Edit: Oh and not a lot of details mentioned here....so to me it seems like an accusation or assumption on your part.

that sucks man. i wouldnt recommend doing the repair, not because they can't fix it... any good body shop can get it road worthy but that carfax report is gonna screw you big time when it comes time to sell it (if you never ever get rid of it, you might be ok) haha

^............and.....it's unfortunate, but it will most likely never drive the same. It's better if they just total it........IMO.
