god it even shattered the headlight!

An escalade truck backed into me once and direct hit my light. Tore up the bumper really bad, but just scratched the light. That must've been a rough hit.

wouldn't be surprised to see them total it.

regardless of it being all cosmetic or not. if the repairs total more than the value of the car based on whatever your insurance company uses for value assessment (NADA or KBB), they will total it. theoretically you could cause 20k+ damage just to the outside of your car with no damage to anything as far as chasis or under the hood. if the car values at 13k, it makes no sense for an insurance company to repair your vehicle.

The adjuster looks at my car tomorrow.

How does one counter the shady business of body shops using non-dealer parts if they were to repair it?

Holy **** I just notice this post.

you alright man?

They will total it for sure.

Since even by pictures the repair will cost WAY OVER 50% of your car's value.

Both headlights are already over 1K(more like 2k+)

The UIM ... wow ...

I guess if you look at it by parts needing to be replaced:

Bumper cover
Hood
Both headlights
L and R fenders
Radiator Support
Coolant Bottle
ECU cover (maybe ECU?)
Engine bay fuse block
Battery
Stock Airbox Assy (inc VFAD)
Upper Intake Manifold (possibly TB?)
A/C Condensor
Driver and Pas side airbags

And thats the visible damage..

gosh.. i'll know tomorrow.

You forgot to mention paint and labor.

Just installing and painting the bumper and fenders cost alot, I know when they replaced my front bumper and 1 fender and a oem rim the total was about 4k so i know yours is going to cost WAY more than the value of your car just by the lights alone.

im not sure what im going to do..

most of the settlement is going back to the lender since I dont have GAP coverage.. so at best I have a healthy downpayment on another car if I decide to sell all my stuff... or if I want another 8 I still have a good downpayment and can keep most of my mods.

not sure...

Sorry to hear of your accident. Good luck and thanks for keeping us updated. At least used 8s are super cheap if you want to pick up another one.

Wow. That totally sucks. I think you're better off with it being totalled, not sure about financially, but you don't want a car that was in an accident that bad. stuff just gets messed up from the impact.

I feel for you

take all your mods out of it asap, use them to pay for your next car.
Sorry to hear about them totalling it but it's probably for the best. (car would never have been the same)

Son-a-bitch! Sorry to hear of the loss.

Check out cardomain.com if you're serious about another -8. I've been entertaining thoughts of a "track bitch" -8, and was shocked at the way prices have been falling on used models.

I mean seriously nuts!
