Alright loyal readers - I've decided that the show must go on! I am no longer selling the suspension and wheel/tire packag, but rather putting them to work this coming season. I hadn't driven my car for a while so I had some time to mull over the thought of selling everything and demoting to an econobox of some sorts to save money, but that just isn't in my blood. I've got the right car and I'm going to weather this economic crisis and enjoy the car-guy life the right way - by going bankrupt as quickly as possible and love it the whole time.
Look for an update within the next month or so with a full suspension install write-up.

Yes, the turbo kit is still for sale as I need to recover some funds. I'm considering designing a homebrew kit in the coming months though - I just have this craving for boost...

It's been a little while since this was updated, and I was bored and awake so I read the whole thing, every post from beginning to end. It did get a little hard to do towards the part of bickering like 9 year old girls over how things were worded... but its a public forum, it can't be avoided.
AI- Good luck with your build, I feel for you, and $550 doesn't even sound like a discounted rate at all, for just a turbo. How they worded themselves in posts, I won't be buying from them, or from Esmeril.
Zoom- I know you are a moderator, but you have to learn to let common slang sayings go. You don't hear Jewish people get testy when someone makes a jew joke on Family Guy or South Park. He wasn't claiming that Chinese were incompetent, sniveling thieves. You are right about not expecting a manufacturer to warranty a second hand purchase, but they stood behind the sellers character, and then to turn around and suggest that same seller fouled the product when quality gets questioned, is suspect to say the least.
I am assuming from the economic woes that the competition dreams are shot, too bad it would have been great to see an 8 entered.

i don't necessarily agree with how the earlier reference was blown up a bit more than it should have but i can see zoom's point of view here. he has a job to do to make sure that people can read a thread without being racially offended. who knows, maybe someone even reported it as offensive and he was just acting on it. in any case, it's not an easy job but someone has to do it so that things can stay civil.

As far as those economic woes go, yes I have them, but no - competition is not going to be cut out of the equation. I find that it's far too big a part of my livelihood, so I'm going to make sure I go to as many events as possible. In fact, I've drawn up a preliminary schedule of events for the year and it looks there are around 20+ events that I am definitely planning on attending. I will post up a calendar of events if anyone is interested, and I'll let you all know when I'm going to be out there!
Also, I would like to give a "good guy" review to Fluid Motorsports (http://www.fluidmotorsports.com/), who was kind enough to send out a set of Agency Power swaybars and endlinks, after I paid for them of course haha. Seriously though, they've got some great prices and are quick to respond to email and just as quick to get your order shipped out.
As far as the installs of the suspension bits go, I plan on heading up to Gingerman Raceway (http://www.gingermanraceway.com/) for an evening test and tune, setting a base time with my stock RX-8 and then installing the coilovers, taking a few timed laps, and then installing the swaybar kit, and end the night with another round of timed laps. Look for a very full bodied review of these parts in a few (hopefully) short months!

It looks like I may have spoken too soon about the economic woes not taking a toll on me...
I had to ground myself sooner or later and after taking an objective look at what all is financially required for graduate school, it looks like a fully track prepared RX-8 is off in the future for me. It currently isn't feasible for soon-to-be graduate student living off of scraps to try and fund a car like the RX-8, so sadly everything must go and I have to submit to that harsh business we all call reality. I've definitely had my fun with the car, but insurance, fuel, car payments all in addition to funding for life itself make it clear that it's time for me to buckle down and get my resources straightened out.
Thankfully there is a silver lining in all of this, as my going to grad school will hopefully provide me with more opportunities to succeed in life, with some of that success being of the financial variety. If all works out, I can definitely see another RX-8 in my future, when I'm more monetarily settled so that I can properly fund the automotive habit (i.e. not skipping meals to buy parts/fuel)
So it's a bittersweet thing this "build thread", with no real successful build occurring, but there were definitely experiences that I'm going to remember for a long while. The initial excitement of the proposed plans; the turbo install, sadly botched by inferior parts; the rallying of the troops against the use of eBay parts; and finally the support of so many RX-8 enthusiasts. It is for this that I would truly like to thank everyone who stood behind me and showed support for my efforts and I would like to apologize to all for not being able to follow through with my plans (for now).
I sincerely hope to find my way back into an RX-8 in the future and pick up where I left off, older, wiser, and more aware of the realities of life and its expenses. For now, I'll find my way into a nice beater of a car and suffer the coming years as a grad student living in automotive purgatory, hoping for the big pay off after graduation.

On a side note... with a turbo failure of this variety was there any harm done to the Renesis? Obviously there was disassembly, cleaning, etc... but upon the install of a new turbo / BOV / WG... was the car ready to roll??
Best of luck on your future.

Just posting because I read through all 11 pages, and felt it utterly necessary.
It was an interesting 11 pages, much like a roller coaster. I was really excited to see the turbo up and running, (and hopefully spotted as Naperville is not to far off from where I'm at)
Good luck in the future with your build!
