Another Crash

Damn, glad you're alright.
+1 on the mentioning of autocross/HPDE/and such.
And good luck on getting another one, I hope you can find a good Winning Blue again, they are beautiful after all.
But ultimately, I'm glad she can take so much damage, to leave you fine.

Liability insurance will cover the guard rail.
The damage to the driver's door is scary. I'd say the crashworthyness of the 8 kept you from getting hurt. Keep that in mind when you buy another car - like that Subaru commercial where the guy visits his crashed Subaru.
Collision insurance should pay you the retail value of your car, so you should be able to get back into another 8. Try to move up to a model that has DSC.

Exactly. We don't need people getting the wrong idea and start thinking that DSC causes problems.
If you're at a track event and decide to turn off the DSC, that's one thing. For street use, it would be very advisable for everyone to leave the DSC on. Most people who say they're good drivers and claim that it will just get in the way of their reactions are probably wrong.
Sorry for the loss... glad to hear you're ok. Even though you're feeling fine now, be sure to look out for delayed pain, especially in the neck. Hopefully everything works out for you.

My neck was a bit sore for a couple days, but it's not too bad now. Definitely wanting some good track time in my future. There aren't too many around me though, so that kinda sucks. There is a local autox that I can go to... Driving classes would be good too.

Hey Bro, glad you are alright. Looked like a pretty good wallop you took.
Down here in the swampy part of our state there is a nice race track and the State Police do rent out their road course training area sometimes.
Ya might want to check them out, the track is called "No Problem Racepark". 1/4 mile drags and a 1.8 mile road course. State Police area I will have to ask my Trooper buddy.

Sorry to hear that. Like what everyone else says, glad your alright... BE CAREFUL NEXT TIME. Good luck with the next car
When I had my 08' RX8 for 6 months I was showing off and launching my car out at a turn to get sideways and I hit my rear left wheel and bent the axle... ever since then I have not tried to pull anything else stupid.

Yup. Total loss. Not surprised, but it is what it is. Some slightly good news, is that we are actually making a tiny bit of money out of it. We bought the car after tax and everything for about $12,000. We are getting $13,500 out of it after deductible. At least it'll be enough to cover everything...
I'm looking for another RX-8 now, but it probably won't be for a few months that my combo will come about. Good thing I am a patient man.

Holy ****. Glad you're ok man. Looks like insurance is taking care of you. Looks like you'll be able to pay off the loan and have a decent amount left for a downpayment on the next car. Good luck with the hunt for another.

The main thing is that you are alright dude, there is often a lesson to learn from our experiences. Alot of guys will judge what happened or what went wrong and tell you that you should have done one thing or another but you were the one who was there. Be honest with yourself, what's done is done and it could have been worse. Sorry you lost a car but there will be another one and insurance has you covered, play safe my friend..

I’m so glad you’re okay! Chin up, my friend, everything will be okay. Do you have full auto insurance coverage? You’re well on your way towards buying a new 8 if you do .

We had full coverage on it, so it was paid for in full. We had gotten such a good deal on the car, that we actually made a little money on it. Still, I would take having the car back over the money any day...
