Body shop F$@#% my car up!

I took my car in to have dents removed, repainted, clear bra and spoiler added.
Well this is what they did to my car.
Scratches in the paint from where they tried to "buff" it, Paint scratched off both door handles, scratches in the plastic strip at the bottom of the window and scratches on the glass too! It looks like they stuck a rock in the buffer and went over my car with it!
So they told me to come back next Tuesday and they will fix what they did and they are not going to charge me for the spoiler. Im still so mad I could cry! After the weekend I had this was the last thing I needed. I was so excited to be picking her up after not having her for 2 weeks and this happens!

wow
I cannot believe any shop would let a car go out looking like that. It's not exactly small subtle scratches in tiny areas.
Make sure to get some type of assurance from the owner that he's going to stand behind his repairs.
Hopefully it was some noob who didnt know which pad or compound to use, cause that just looks like some yokel used a dirty pad and the wrong abbrasive.

only way to fix it is to replace it. if they try to use "rouge" on it you'll see distortions

This is my guess

The first couple pics show a small rock was in the Random orbit buffer. And any good shop knows to NEVER use a ROB on any painted surface.

The one below was from the edge of a piece of sandpaper on a ROS(sander)

edit - Regarding the first few pics - Those look like too large of loops to be from a hose mark, however, if they are on the highest peak of that particular panel, they could be from an air hose to a ROS

Actually that looks like the mirror reflecting on the paint. I believe all our RX-8s suffer from the orange peel effect from the factory.

I am refering to the orange peel, not the reflection of another panel.

And I have NEVER seen peel that bad on ANY new car. Hyundai thru Ferrari . . .Factory is ALWAYS better than a shitty shop.

To me, it looks like only a couple panels were resprayed, and the ones next to the freshies suffered because of it.

It is a half assed job at best

+1

My 8 had orange peel from the factory. I am afraid of doing anything about it for this exact reason.

That sucks pink. At least the guy is willing to fix his mistakes.

Horrid, just horrid. Im wondering, did they bring these to your attention immediately upon your arrival? Or did they simply let you find them for yourself?

Im sure you called them prior to picking it up, they didnt say anything????

Damn, quality work and customer service is so hard to come by now-a-days...sad

Sorry to see that happen. Looks like a Stupid *** Moron did the work. Just kill them all. J/K
I would ask the owner to put in WRITING what EXACTLY he is going to do to fix your car. You need to make a list of the damage and have him sign a copy. That way you both can go over it when the work is done and make sure it is up to YOUR STANDARDS.
And if he doesn't fix it just like he said, take him to court. Sue them and have another BETTER shop repair the car.

Good luck.

The picture he circled up there, the scratched part id the plastic piece at the bottom of the window, its not supposed to be painted, but its not supposed to be scratched all to hell and back either.. The other part with the orange peel, its the part that was repainted.

Alot of cars come with the orange peel effect at the bottom of the door on purpose. I think they give it a rougher surface near the bottom to reduce dingd and scratches.

I called and they never said a word. When I got there they didnt say anything. I had to bring it to there attention and at first the guy tried to act like it was normal for a black car.
