Got one!
Hi everyone,
Well, I looked on the market for about 2 months for an RX-8 and I finally found one that I really liked. The price seemed right, so I took it home today. '05 Shinka with 33k miles on it. Hopefully It won't give me any of the bad RX-8 funk that I've read so much in the forums (flooding, starter, battery, coils, etc. issues).
By the way, this site is an EXCELLENT source of information. Thanks for all your contributions. I look forward to do the same in the coming future.
Pics to come soon!

Same here; got mine new in March of '06 and nary a problem. Only flaws have been one moisture permeated taillight and a broken plastic clip on the center console cover. Both covered under warranty.
Now at 20k miles and that's it. No loss of power, no flooding, no nuthin' but fun.
I have kept up with all applicable TSB's and never shut down cold without doing the 'hold for ten seconds at 3k rpm.' Oil changes every 3k miles, modest pre-mix (4 oz per tank), and rotate the tires at 6k. I also wash/wax often and detail spray after almost every run. Spirited driving to include of course hitting the redline often.
Enjoy!!!

^^ sweet! I'm definitely looking forward to a long, fun, ownership experience.
The first thing that freaked me out was the gas mileage. I knew well ahead that it wasn't going to be great. But when I noticed that after about 38 miles my gas gauge showed a quarter tank already gone, I was like "HOLY S*%@T!!". Fortunately, the gauge seems to slow down as it depletes. As long as I get 250 miles or more per fill, I'll be fine. I'm at 205 now and have over a 1/4 tank left (I've been doing mixed city/Hwy driving).

I got 81,000 on mine and only had to replace the cat, because the person didn't change plugs when I bought it, other then that it runs pretty strong. I get around 23-25 mpg in mine.

Alright, I guess its time for me to post some pics of my Shinka... I've been steadily working towards getting the car exactly how I want it. I'm mostly done with external mods, although I'm not sure if I'm going to leave the front grill silver or eventually get it removed and powder coated black. Here are some pictures of how it looked last weekend before the grill and splash guards were installed.
