I would love to have one of these badges
I would buy your parts if I lived in a place with more forgiving roads. But that bumper would not last long around here, LOL. Lots of speed bumps in my neighborhood a lone.

I suppose I can make my entrance now. I totalled my TiGray a couple weeks ago and recovered pretty quickly from the no-8 downtime by picking up a 40th Anniversary. I'm struggling through a couple issues with the car but I'll get them figured out eventually. She looks pretty good apart from a scrape and some touch-ups that the previous owner did. Had the car a week and a half now.
Day after I got it:
And as she is today - added clear corners, swapped out the tires from the old 8(you can kinda see it in the background).

Vivid Racing News » Mazda RX8 Red Coated for Track Duty
Didnt someone post up pics of their new 40th with this red stripe and regular s1 wheels? I think they bought an abused track toy...

I dont hate the red wheels for some reason. The strips can go but if someone told me to picture red wheels on my car I think i woulda punched them....not that bad tho.

But if you were to put red wheels with you factory seats, man, that would look so bad. As we all know, the ''Cosmo Red" interior of the 40th AE is nor really red but some sort of burnt orange. It would all look like a terrible combination of colors that don't really match.

updates with the badge coming within the next hour or two, will update this post.
provide feedback ASAP... sending cut file to CNC on monday hopefully.
I did a few mockups, i traced the badge and letters in AutoCad as best as i could and they are replicated 98% accurate.. then i mocked up 2 in photoshop incase you guys are having difficulty imagining it...
first i have 2 styles. The first is time/cost effective for me to make, the CNC is not working that hard to cut this opposed to the second style. I will cut both and see what happens, ideally id like the second design more, but only if it isnt over working the CNC.
Like before, the CNC will cut the "aluminum color" so therefor the aluminum will be at the bottom layer, and the black will be at the surface.
Same as above, the CNC will cut the aluminum, so therefor the aluminum will be on the bottom layer and the black will be at the surface.
I want you guys to pick one of the 2 ABOVE, lets call the first picture STYLE A and the second picture STYLE B
Then, i want you guys to pick if you like it that size, or if you want the logo bigger like in these 2 below. lets call it SIZE A for the pictures above, or SIZE B for the 2 below.
Then i want you guys to pick the placement of the #x/1000. The 2 below have different placements, so pick PLACEMENT A for the 3rd picture or PLACEMENT B for the 4th picture placement.
For example, i personally like...
STYLE: B
SIZE: B
PLACEMENT: B
These plates will be 2inches x 5 inches. Perfect fit above the seat warmer switches with 1/2 inch gap on both sides.

tomago can you post a pic of your tinted tails? I was curious what they looked like on MGM..
and thanks for the reply. Ideally BBB is what i like, but unfortunately i have a feeling ABB will be the final result.
Im going to cut it hopefully on monday and use satin black spraypaint for a test. If you guys want i can get the ball rolling and just use satin black spraypaint and put 5-10 coats of matte clear coat. If all goes well i can have them done ideally within the month. If you want me to order the powder and powdercoat gun and an air compressor it will take longer.
Ill post pics of the results, and then you guys can let me know.

I like :
STYLE: A
SIZE: A
PLACEMENT: B
I think that best matches the fender plaque. But I will take whatever. Thanks for your work on this, it looks awesome.

I've been meaning to post pics, but wanted to wait until after I clay bar'd and waxed. I'm sure you're not the only one curious though so I'll run her through the wash and get a quick pic up for now.
What about doing ABB and not painting at all? I figured I can fill the cut out part with some black nail polish then clear coat the whole thing.

I have narrowed it down to something different.. in order to do design B, it would take around 6hrs milling on the CNC. and i have a lot of them to do to get to you guys..
Im not really even supposed to be using the machine so i want to reduce the amount of time im using it just incase it breaks. The machine was well over 5k. I also probably have to buy 1 new bit per badge, as it will probably break bits like no other.
I will mill out the logo AND THEN paint it. Then i will get the sander out and sand out the top layer of paint off, so effectively the letters will be the LOWER layer and the metal will be on top.
Lets talk paints.. I can get these out to you guys, and its very easy for me to do this with spraypaint... Since the black paint will never be touched since it is the lower layer, it is super super super super super overkill for me to spend the money on the PC materials and stuff. Its only really useful when you are handling the object a lot.
I am very good with spraypaints, trust me it will come out professional looking Ill update this post, or make a new one with stuff ive painted/general work... if i can find pics. Basic stuff really. But i want to show you guys that im fluent in spray painting.
So do you guys still want me to use a matte black, im thinking shiny might be interesting now that its the lower layer...
If you guys want i can polish the aluminum to a highly reflective finish.. or i can use a really corse piece of sandpaper and stroke it in 1 direction to give it a brushed look... but the brushed look wont like nice. I can tell by just thinking about what its going to do.
WHAT I NEED FROM YOU GUYS!!!
send me a PM of your #/1000 for everyone who wants one. I will respond back to you with some info and then respond back if you still want to proceed.

sorry for the massive amount of pics.. We were given about 3 days per each of these projects. They arent much, but shows some cool stuff. Most of the models are made out of pink insulation foam from home depot, hand sanded all the way up to 1000 grit. Then spackled, then sanded to 1000, then spackled again (repeat 3 times) then primered, then primered again, then sanded primer, then paint, then clear coat (repeat clear 3 times)
We had to make rings, i made a crazy ring.
my most recent foam model..
my first foam model of the year..
chair
meh they are alright. Nothing to brag about though.

I also like BBB.
But bad news for me. I just got an email response from MazdaUSA, and they don't have information about the production number of my car!
They said they only have info in their database from 1-967. No clue as to why they don't have the info of the last 33 cars.
But they confirmed my car was manufactured on 2/11/2008. So it is clear my 40AE was one of the last to roll out of the assembly line.
So my badge would have to say something like 'last33'/1000
LOL

Pistonhater, what do you want me to do about it? What would you like me to put there, that is if you are interested. Only one of you guys sent me a PM like i asked.
Due to the weird *** weather i was not able to cut/test cut on wednesday. Im trying to arrange another date.
drop me a PM, so that i can do 4 or 5 at a time and save a lot of time. Doing 1 at a time is going to **** the CNC guy off. Hes not even supposed to be letting me use it
