To me it looks more like a mismatch on a repaint than fading.since you have different looking colors on panels. Keep in mind that color match on metallic paint is an art. Lots of factors temp humidity and even magnetic charge can make the metallic align differently and cause a color mismatch.
I think that is a possibility too. Gonna have to get the whole car repainted. Soul red was my choice.
If a car is kept outside, verses garaged at home, it will definitely fade over 10 years. My '04 was repainted around 2010 on the fender and front bumper, and it looked great at the time. But now, 9 years later, you can easily see the difference between the factory and the repaint. The repaint looks better, the factory is slightly faded. And depending on where the car was parked most of the time, the sides should fade less than the tops, for obvious reasons.
Back then, I had money to buy one but not enough income to keep it running.
Took me 6-7 years, but here it is: 2010 Velocity Red RX8 R3, no cat w/ Mazdaspeed exhaust. Feels good to get one of my dream cars!

Some pics of my 2010 R3 (current and before I bought it prior to being repaired). Video is of the test drive and shows how it looked when I bought it about a year ago:

Baby8 part 2. After work complete. 2009 rims added etc..
After new coils. Not a good picture Little red down there is it.. I just love this kit... Looks like factory. Kudos to the person that designed it. If you didn't know any better its factory. Who needs a gallon resovoir for window wash anyway. Bugs don't dare hit my baby8 Showing those 2009 oem rims on the 2007. Love the look All around great car... .... ..... My fathers old fergoson in the background..Nice little tractor I am borrowing it to level some ground... If you don't already have one I recommend a 1968 industrial John Deere with backhoe and front loader...Great for picking up your 8 if you don't have a lift...
I don't know for sure but I would think the engine although precice clearances the simplicity of should make it fairly easy.. Think of it like making a triple decker rotor sandwitch. Three pieces of bread. front center and rear housings and two areas inbetween with two jucy roters inside. Zoom Zoom Good
Hey if anyone is from southern Indiana or northern Kentucky near louisville send me a private message for a little bit more details...September 22nd me and a other RX8s are cruising down to Lexington take pictures eat meet other guys have a good time I've got some coming from Cincinnati so please send me a PM if you decide to join in
hey I actually just bought a velocity red rx 8 like 5 days ago up in La Grange. Id like to go on the run but unfortunately mine won't start after I turn it on unless I let it sit for about an hour. I changed the spark plugs and wires and realized that the guy before me put in 4 trailing spark plugs and one was cracked. So that helped it run better but did not take the check engine light off the dash and it did nothing for the not starting after turning it off recently. I made sure to warm it up and I drove from Taylor blvd down to Preston and Snyder so it was def warmed up. Pretty much my question is do you have any idea what that is and do you know of any reputable repairman in the louisville area for rotary engines? Thank you so much. - Anthony
update:
I've changed the spark plugs and wires. The guy had 4 trailing spark plugs in it and one of them had cracked porcelain on it... so ya i got that changed. And I ordered a new upgraded starter to see if that will fix my problem. I'm not certain it will tho considering it has died twice, I don't think the starter will rev my car up during idling to keep it from not dying. It doesn't die normally unless the AC is on and even then it's only died twice when I came to a stop and put the car in neutral, so obviously the rpms drop to a little below 1k and when the ac was on it would sometimes drop to about 500 rpm and then just die and all my dash lights come on and then I'm back to waiting an hour or so to start my car again before it will fire up. Idk if anybody has any tips at all it would be very appreciated. I didn't even know this car absolutely HAD to have conventional oil, so ya any more tips like that would be great. Thank you.

check your compression most likely if you’re near 100k miles your engine is blown. People usually sell their 8’s to people who don’t know anything about the engines and then it blows up on them. I would call it a rip-off but have fun swapping the motor.
Ready Set Go.. My 2004 Mazda RX8 GT arrived at home two weeks ago. Very Excited. Manual, 119km on it. New Engine, New Aluminum Radiator, New battery, New lower control arms, New Fuel Pump, New HD Starter, New Coil overs, New Fuel Pump, Cold Air Intake, Borla Exhaust.. Bose sound system. Love the white stock rims, New Toyo Proxes Tires 225/45/18.
I looked up all the colors and couldn’t figure out what mine is. Plus this is the only red forum I saw, here’s Scarlett! Also if anyone knows of any affordable rims I could slap on here I’d appreciate it.
