There's a member on here with as velocity red that used to have the signature, "clean is the new sexy". Anyone know who that is? He had some good pictures of his 8 that is like to revisit.

DocWalt, I have to admit I have never liked the look of black/grey wheels on red RX8. I had some dark grey wheels for my winter tires for a few years and wasn't too fond of the look. But I have to admit, yours look fantastic. Good job! Great pics!

Thanks Team. I am glad you approve of the calipers. 😎 BTW they are VHT caliper paint with high temp decals. I dont get how you looked past the dual element wing with barerly 10 percent angle of attack on a street car as i was not chasing rear downforce! Fear not as it's balanced out with a custom front splitter! 😀 This car was built for Grand Touring. Be happy!

Hey these are some nice pictures Doc! But what's with all the stickers? Does your club force you to comply with wearing them? Your car has zero aero and is basically stock imo.
From what I understand you drive it to and from events like other 'racers' on here and I don't get it unless you're still a teenager or in your early 20's. #becauseracecar ??? Idk?

It normally looks like this with magnetic numbers:

A majority of those stickers were required for the time trial and the Mazda stickers are on the car for Mazda contingency requirements and I'm lazy and don't feel like applying them often. I have them on magnets for my Miata but haven't gotten there with the RX-8 yet. and no, I'm not in my 20s, haha. I dislike the stickered up look too.

Also, the cheapie gold wheels still make me think you're in your 20's (just joshin' you).

Mazda pays money to those that perform well, so I'm glad to represent them. The others support the series and subsidize entry costs so they're keeping money in my pocket, fine by me

Just fyi, these manufactures quite literally bank on those who don't understand their business model(s). You're not really getting a deal on parts, tires, entry fees, etc. There's a margin of profit for all these things and in general, people are so excited to be apart of what they perceive as 'racing' that they sell themselves short just for the experience. It's what I'd call being taken advantage of and my offer for a better parts rate still stands. Entirely up to you.
Also, the premise of supporting something just because there's a pay-out upon completion of approved performance is severely lacking in character and integrity imo. I don't appreciate being treated like a pawn and that's literally the definition of a 'sell-out.' If a brand really 'supports' those who support them, then stickers and bs shouldn't be needed. The exact opposite should be implemented imo.
If you haven't seen Spartacus starring Kirk Douglas, it's not entirely unrelated to what we're discussing here and well worth the watch. I highly recommend it.
