I didnt mean the entire dash, I ment the pieces that would have been replaced had these been real...

Of course gutting out the car, and replacing the ENTIRE dash would save a lot of weight (this is what i did to my drag RX-7) but on a stock daily driven RX-8 my point was that some people take a couple extra pounds to seriously. reminds me of those Civic kids that tell me there Carbon Fiber hood made them a full second faster in the 1/4........ rrrriiiigggghhhhhtttt!

anyways, sorry Snowfl8k, I am not trying to change the topic of thise thread, I LOVE THE DASH KIT! It looks freakin awsome in your car. I think the silver was a reat pic for your white car. I hope mine turns out as nice as yours.

Just an FYI, Snowfl8k is probably the only one on this thread that could pull this look off. This is very girly, and it matches her personality to a tee. Think of this as jewerly for a car. Not purposeful, but fun.

It would be nice if we could keep comments positive, or if you are bent on being negative, why not post a link to a product that you like better. If you like the stock look, I'm glad you're happy with it. I think there are those in all threads that don't agree with someone's choice. I re-read Snowfl8k's post, she wasn't asking for suggestions. This is what she wanted after deliberating several choices.

I've posted the link to the dask kit company so that you can look through the products that they offered, on your own time. You'll notice that there are many colors offered. If it's not for you, its not for you....but you're the one that checked into this thread...obviously out of curiosity. Hope that has been satisfied.

and, i am in no way, as you put it "JELIOUSE"

so changing the body lines.... like a body kit, is being stipid? a body kit on a stock everyday driven street car does nothing for the performance of a car, in fact it adds weight by adding material. as you put it "it's for the sake of being differant" (which I totally agree with by the way, this is what makes your car, YOURS!)

so your saying that had this been "REAL" carbon fiber, it would not "cheapen" the look of the car??? DUDE! what the hell do you do for a living that would entitle you to have enough money that would allow you to replace all parts with "real" carbon Fiber parts as to not "cheapen" the look of your car? and if you really feel that way, why do you have an RX-8 to begin with, why not buy somehting like a ferrari?

besides we are right back to the start of this conversation. IF you had enough money to replace the parts with REAL cf, I would think you were an idiot to spend that kind of money on something that would save you 2 pounds on a daily driven street car.

put a line of RX-8's together all in a row, every single one of them with the same damn boring interior, and one that has her kit installed, and I can without a doubt tell you that not one person would be looking at your interior telling you how "nice" and "differant" it is. they will all be over at her car looking at her sweet ride.

in fact, why dont you post a picture of your car, and the interior. lets see how "perfect" your car is.

Zoom Zoom, you being a fellow Yellow owner, you suprise me a little. most people that buy yellow LOVE the sttention of standing out. I have been in a HUGE parking lot before, and been the ONLY yellow car there. and love every minute of it. ... yet i have read post about how stupid it is to have a yellow RX-8 "they stand out to much" "the color is ugly" "it takes away form the cars sexyness"..... by the way, i think your car looks great. :D

Hell I personally want people to get inside my car, and be reminded that they are in not only a Yellow RX-8, but a Custom Yellow RX-8.

that being said, I 100% agree that there is a fine line between rice and nice. her kit is nice. RICE is take off all the parts and spray painting them. (i have been guilty of this once or twice..... never again)

OK, now you're OVERTHINKING this. I am talking about stickers. STICKERS. not bodykits. not spoilers. I am talking about stickers that are imitating something that it's not. A body kit is real. rims are real. spoilers are real. STICKERS ARE NOT REAL. they are tacky and aren't 'sweet'. they belong in a Honda Civic.

Also, I am not saying to replace the parts with real carbon fiber. what I AM saying is that it should be left alone. carbon fiber is meant for pieces of the car where weight savings makes a difference...like a hood or trunk.

Cmon, DUDE. you're being a moron.

Well--some of those dashkits are real carbon fiber. Carbon Fiber used for trim--in my opinion--should be done so sparringly. I like some aspects of her kit--others I don't. I had some carbon fiber trim in my FD and it accented it very very well--it was real and it was black. Its just trim thats all.

so tell me where carbon fiber would make a difference. according to you, stickers of carbon fiber is they way carbon fiber was intended.

thats not quite what i said.

If there is something structual, and CF WILL severly reduce the weight AND you intend to replace it anyways, then yes CF is the way to go.

IF you are doing somehting strickly for cosmetics, like adding some flair to your interior, no there is no way in hell i would buy REAL cf for that. not to mention that real CF is a little played out. at least she picked somehting differant then black CF like everyone else.

........ wait a minute, is your problem with this kit that they call it "silver CF" what if she had a differant color like silver. not the CF silver, but just silver? woudl it still be "just a sticker"?

........ it doesnt matter, you leave your car stock and boring, while we all make ours look NOTHING like yours and my grandma's interior. while your at it, dont lower your car, put a body kit on it, or change the wheels. I would hate for your car to stand out in a crowd.

Nope, not saying anything at all. Just check this out if your interested...and obviously, you were interested. Thanks for checking the thread out.

Just another FYI, she posted pics of her body kit when she had it installed. She posted it to give people an idea of what the Tsunami front along with Ings side and rear look like. She also wanted to get the name of the bodyshop out because they did such a great job on the install. Once again, she was providing this as a service to owners of the RX8. She got many positive comments on that, as well as sparking a debate over the issue of not having side markers. Some negative comments from people...not too bad though.

I wish there were ways to ban certain members from responding from a post after their initial response. Because often times, it is the initial response that is the best that they can provide, and everything beyond that is pointing fingers and getting all puffed up. The posts that I place, as well as though posted by Snowfl8k are for info only. To provide a forum of 8 owners some alternatives, some ideas, some direction on where to go with their projects.

Sorry this wasn't helpful for you, hopefully it will be for others.

I will be getting a kit of my own, most likely in Black. I will again, post pics of mine so that others can see what it looks like. Its always hard being the first one to do anything, even if it is only an interior/cosmetic change. It is so much easier making a decision about your own ride when you've seen/heard a product on another members car, in person.

I recall when I had a big pocket of cash burning a hole in my pocket...I went to as many forum meets as possible to get some ideas. Unfortunately for me, the only people who had done mods at that time in my area were MikeB, Ricchio, and Outlaw. They gave me some ideas on what I wanted to do, as well as pointing the way to vendors they used and trusted.

I would recommend this dash kit company to anyone. They sell exactly what they advertise, and it fits perfectly. No regrets on this or any of our other purchases.

Oh, and Jack Daniels aint that bad either

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

CF stickers are the way to go! REAL CF is SO two years ago!

Let's just leave it at this. I don't like the carbon fiber stickers at all. either do a lot of others. but some do, and that's fine. but people have to realize that the 8 is unique on it's own from other cars, inside and out, and there's no need to do stuff like adding something as 'different' as cheap dashkit stickers that only cheapen the car and bring it down a level, rather than the intended opposite.

I am with you on that one Kwescott, It's the people that make the stupid negative comments, like "that looks like crap" that really should stay out of it. Those people are the ones that make me want to NOT post pictures of mine when mine gets installed. so if you all want to see a picture of yellow installed kit, either buy it yourself, or come see the car in person.

Snowfl8k was being very nice by letting us see her kit installed before I buy mine. I COULD have just baught mine, and HOPED that it looked, and fit ok. but now that i see hers, i will order mine!

THANK YOU SNOWFL8K. you rock

do you even read my post, or do you just read what you want? just please, dont ever post a picture of your car so i can see it. I am sure I would have plenty to say about it. I can only imagine what it looks like. it's either compleatly stock and looks like my grandma's RX-8, or you have so much money invested you could have gotten a ferrari..... I am betting on the stock.

oh wait..... no, all you did was replace your hood with a carbon fiber hood, and you picked up a second right?

wow you're funny. sorry, i don't hijack threads to entertain little children. do you even read my posts?

i don't claim to have a 10 second car. i don't use ANY carbon fiber on my car, and never have. i don't make my car look like a Civic in any way. i'm so sorry i hit such a sore spot with you with carbon fiber. keep hittin' them cones, killa.

wait for this carbonfiber kit. do you simply glue the carbonfiber pieces onto the original dash plastic or do you take out the plastics and replace them with carbonfiber???
btw, i like dark carbon better.
i have to say some of the silver carbon fiber is ugly. sorry. aside from centerconsole, your carbonfiber head rest and steering wheel are great.
