Censoring out license plates

Someone please enlighten me.

why is it that when we have photos of our cars, we blur out (photochop) the license plate, but not when it's a vanity plate? Isn't confidentiality applicable to both types? Just bored so I thought that I would ask.

Some states allow information to be collected by calling in, or bringing in a license plate. Also, some with to hide specific evidence of their cars perhaps violating warranties. I just think it looks better

not to mention MAZDA patrols these boards, and if by chance they see something "illegal" they can void your warranty...ask ABBID! ahhaha

Yeah, I understand why they photochop them out, but why do we proudly display vanity plates? I was under the impression it was the same risk.

It is the same, but people with vanity plates take the risk for the "cool" factor to impress the other board members with their creativeness. And, FYI, I am glad they do. Some plates are awesome!

If you don't have any mods that would void a warranty, why hide your plate?

I never posted my vanity plates until after i left the state and they became worthless. I'm not worried about MAZDA on the board... im more concerned about car theives who patrol the boards. its said, but it happens. Doesn't hurt to be cautious.

well my license plate is AML CAR (my initials... its a family thing) and i dont know why people photoshop theirs....

personally though, I keep my keys in the little recession just up and back of the rear left wheel when im going to the beach or something.... i also keep an emergency 200 dollars cash under the driver's seat...

i wouldnt want someone to know those things AND my license plate.... oops!

P.S. - lol, if you happen to be a thief and see my car, dont bother breaking in.... i rarely have anything valuable in it, and i never have any cash

That reminds me of this guy who owns a convertible Rx-7 and he had a vynil shop print up a small sticker for his windshield, drivers side window, passenger window and at the top of the rear glass pannel. It all says "Door is unlocked, please do not cut top. Radio face is in my pocket."

People blurr them because somone could run your plate and get your name, address, etc. When I had my civic there were lots of stolen car sback in the early days and a few instances where the people stealing them were from out of town so.......

But really it's silly because someone seeing you drive down the road could get your plate. I called a gravel truck owner after running his plate and told him that I was going to slash every single tire on his truck ($300.00 a piece) if he ever dropped rocks on the highway again. I was young and dumb and very pissed after he speckled my new paint job with rocks. I tried to get him to stop but he kept going. When I called him later that evening it really freaked him out. I even read him his own address. I would never really slash his tires but I just wanted him to be a little more careful and to take the extra time to wash down and secure his load before he leaves the gravel yard.

In the UK some people copy your plates to clone your car - they can then speed past our fixed cameras with impunity.
