well at age 16 the amish let their children go to exprience the world on their own. durring this time the person is allowed to do anything he or she wants ie. drugs, cars......etc. and it is amish belief that it is up to the individual to come back to the church. so in fact it is possialbe for a person in the amish community to be on here. but not one active in the church....

The Amish where I grew up couldn't use any technology that came about after around 1900. They couldn't use anything with rubber tires or gasoline engines. If that Hummer had a diesel engine (with mechanical fuel injection), they would have been able to drive it.
I was on one of their farms one time and saw a crane and had some questions answered on how they were able to use one.
This is called the "Wild Years" or ''rumspringa'' (literally, ''running wild'')
