Dirty RX8!!
This might load a little slow, I restrict bandwidth on my albums:
There was an SCCA RallyX today, no I didn't run, but it was good to come out and see some familiar locals. It's held just South of Las Vegas on a dry lake bed.
Yes, the lake beds are awesome a few days after rain, and you can usually do top speed runs no problem at all!
Well, it was a bit choppy, so I just did some mad donuts.
Here's an idea of a short shot of the lake bed when the rally did their parade lap (like walking an autox course)

Falken FK451's
Decent street tire for the track, but they heat up pretty fast and become a bit slick, just all falken tires.
I'm doing some research as a few new tires are just hitting the market, trying to find something better.
Why can't they make the yoko intermediates anymore, that was a sweet tire!

no salt, just fine powdered desert dust
Been there in my wrx before, you can get there right off the main roads.
She cleaned up just fine, but I think I ate a few lbs of airborne dust.
RallyX was cool!

Yeah, you gotta break a car in with at least one trip to the many lake beds out here.
After a good rain and when it firms up again, I'm going back to play.
She's clean, but there's still some hidden dirty areas

It just increases your service interval.
Car is just peachy clean now.
After a run like that, take out your filter and clean it with compressed air. Done.
BTW, the roads out there are all very smooth, so not much except for a few tiny kicked up rocks.
Now if I were doing some crazy donuts all day long, then I might have some issues
