And, that was like seven years ago. I guess drifting just never really had a name before. What I don't get is why everything is a lifestyle now. Peolple just have to much time on their hands, I guess.

yeah, yeah... it's a sport. I think someone said it best when they compared Drifting to Figure Skating.
I still don't get it though, It goes against everything you learn about going fast.
...I never was one for figure skating though

I guess you guys never go out and have fun in your car.
Mustang wheels a disgrace? Whatever.
I would do the same thing. I like road racing and indeed drifting is against everything I know about how to go fast, but it sure is a lot of fun and I have done a bit of drifting just for fun.
I remember taking my 83 RX7 GSl out in a large parking lot late at night just to go sideways before it was ever considered a sport.
I also remember taking out my room mates disgraceful mustang 5.0 out and taking it sideways. Too bad it is not a real drift car and not cool.
I appreciate the difference between a controlled power slide with good control over the car and then just having crappy traction with the rear end breaking loose. The problem with a nice controlled power slide is it is usually too fast for a parking lot or somewhere in the open. A cheap set of wheels and tires will let you have fun at low speeds and get a lot of practice in while at it.
