I have a feeling they'll bust out a Mustang Cobra for Vin Disel drifting since he used an US cars in the 1st movie.
Even if it's a bad story, they do a pretty decent job with the race scenes... I hope they show more wrecks and such. Since that's part of Drifiting and racing... lots of mangled cars, scattered pieces, human wreckage.

The black Charger was his DAD's whip. The only time he drove it in the flick was to go chase down the punks on bikes (and home-run one of 'em into a 'cliff' with the door.. priceless. :D )
From what I've heared, Vin Diesel kept the FD.
Were I him, I'd keep it.. but lose the stupid stick-on graphics and the veilside kit.. I like the FD nice and naked. :D :D

I really hope that they DO NOT put an RX-8 as the main car. If its in the backround its ok, but an RX-8 as the main car guarantees that it will be insanely ricified into living hell.

Not only did Vin drive a FD in FF, in the sequence where they "fly through" the interior of the engine, it is acutally a wankel engine complete with whooshing rotors.
You guys are overthinking these movies. Of course they're mindless popcorn movies aimed at teenage males. They have fast cars, hot babes and a hip soundtrack. Add some good car crashes and you satify the target demographic. My two teenage sons enjoy them and I will admit I do too. I don't mistake it for a documentary.
For those of you old enough to remember the sixties, was it the intricate plot or marvelous acting the made "Easy Rider" such a hit? This is the same formula: eye candy, escapism and a driving soundtrack.

Unfortunately most of the cars in these movies end up not being that fast, especially in number 2. Almost all of the cars in it were stock except for the exterior/interior, and weren't anything special in the speed category. Of course you wouldn't know that with the way they portray them in certain scenes.
And yah, I agree with BigOLundh, watch Fast and the Furious 1 again and take note of all the weird stuff like that! Drag races going on for 2-3 minutes, shifting 14 times during the race, the floor pan falling off? What's up with that? Danger to manifold! And then of course once the eclipse hits 140 (I think that was it) he automatically goes into a spin! And remember, nitrous makes the top end higher, but only the big bottles! Hahaha

Hmm doubtful, they did not ricefy the RX-7 in the first movie. They kept it very clean with a Veilside Body kit I believe....no Rice with that.

yea, a double shot of nos makes the bolts in your floorpan loosen.
also, every car enthusiast is some ridiculous b-boy wannabe with extreme attitude and a million tatoos. oh yea, and the vinyl on the sides of the car is just as important as whats going on under the hood...

thats not too bad considering our STOCK rims are like 650 a piece, and the dark chrome are 750
And they're that expensive because, for 18s, they're really not that heavy at only ~22lbs. The similarly-designed, but much heavier, 17" rims on the Mazda6 are only about $250 each.
