Fastest RX8 Laps at VIR
We ran fastest on both Thursday and Friday and blew a motor in qualifying. You can easily see the power of the stock ABS braking system at work here.

I was at VIR this past weekend to see this race with fellow Mazda lovers. Though we were disappointed for Eric and his team he was very accommodating to all the fans. He showed that video on a big screen at his trailer and talked through what he was doing, what he used as braking points, what the car was doing. Despite the blown engine he kept a smile on his face and entertained us. Was a great time.

Nice video! Too bad about the blown engine though.
I was at VIR weekend of Aug 28 for a Mazda Driver's full course driving school and it was a blast! It was "driving school" as opposed to a racing event (for insurance purposes), so unfortunately no lap times, but from photo time stamps I'm estimating high 2:30's to low 2:40's with a bone stock car on street tires and Hawk HPS pads. I was hitting the marks pretty good on Sunday (considering it's just my 2nd track event) but still couldn't get the uphill esses nailed full throttle - you were carrying 15-20 mph faster than me through turn 10 (hell, and just about every other turn!). Your times were in the 2:12's, so nicely done!! Can't wait to get back out there on some newly acquired track rubber!

Yes. 2nd is mathematically locked up and it was great to meet you.
I think our engine issue at VIR (similar to our old failure modes) may be solved by adding back an oil injection solution. All of failure modes over the last 3 years have been side seal spring tension loss related and my gut says it's due to lack of lubrication (even w 3 oz./gal of 2 stroke).
Working that effort this week. Currently we are pulling and rebuilding motors after each World Challenge race weekend. My gut tells me the uphill backstraight at VIR (which puts big load on the motor in higher gear, slowing accelerating rpms) is the culprit. Most of the other tracks were street races on flat grade/no long uphills.
More later.
