Feed Rx8 vs Civic
#5
well, I do not think Rx8 always seem to fail at the touge. Personally, I think its opponent was a truly tough one, because the EG6 is a lot lighter, thus the braking is later, and turn-in is smoother, right? I am sure if the FEED Rx8 was to go up with the MCR Skyline (I've seen that episode) I am sure the FEED Rx8 would have come out at the top.

And yeah, I've seen that episode too i think, I realised after posting how flippen stripped out that civic was... so it's not really a surprise :p

I'm assuming they measured the power in hp but I don't read japanese.

it seems that it was also wet so that plays a factor. i bet that if it was completly dry it would have been a different race. also i didnt' know that feed went to a turbo setup, i remember their first touge with the rx8 and they mentioned that they planed to stay NA, very interesting

Yeah, I was surprised they went turbo as well, since they did say in the past that they wish to stick with NA and try and get as much power out of the NA engine. Maybe they thought that there were too many pressure out there to put a turbo, because they would lose if they do not put one in? To me, I thought that best race was between the RE Amemiya FD3S and the Amuse S2300 at the end of this episode. It was such a close race that they decided to give both cars the win - it was a very tight race.

Maybe they felt they had got as much out of the engine in N/A form that they could? And wanted to try turbo. There was a clip linked with the same rx8 which had a ported engine (or so people were saying... I can't read japanese myself)

that's one of the largest gaps i've seen in a hot version touge battle
As far as this vid, I've seen it also. Kind of dissappointing. It seems like the 8 does well against opponents (American Touge 2, NA Feed RX-8, Speedsource Racing, ect.), but never gets the respect. It's like if an 8 wins a race or does good in something, everyone's like "huh ... how about that". But AS SOON as it loses in or to something, everyone's like "see I told you they're slow. they suck. those things are crap. the 8 doesn't have any potential what so ever. bring back the 7." The 8's bad characterstics, flaws, and loses are always amplified. This vid shows me that there is a VERY fine balance to this car that needs the utmost attention and respect. I'm sure Feed has got that 8 in shape.
...
... uh ...
... the rain didn't exactly help either.

The people that got the FD when it was new can confirm that the same thing happeng to us, every time the rx-7 won something "it was luck" when it lost " you see thoes rotary engines suck" but no one took notice that a lot of piston cars fail too
last time I went to the drag strip there where a couple of civics with blown engines and a 350z and no one pay a lot of attention to then, if I blow my engine they star talking and bashing the rotary
