Good website on the new LeMans Mazda!

I found this website purely by accident. It has info on all of the various LeMans type of chassis but the best part was the info on the new Courage C65 chassis. There is a page dedicated to the new Mazda Courage! There are some nice pictures of the engine installed in the car. The 400 hp 3 rotor breathes through a 1.94 in. (49.1mm) restrictor plate!!! Holy crap that alot of airflow (and power!) through such a small opening. There is also alot of tech on the aerodynamics of the car elsewhere on the site. This is a great site. Check it out and enjoy the new rotary powered racer!

Here's the page on the chassis itself. Click on the pictures.

Sweet ... nice find! The restrictor apparently impacts the rotary more adversely than other power plants. Love the carbon brakes. It's an all business chassis ... and quite impressive ... especially up close.

Didn't Toyota last make a serious run at it the year before they entered Formula 1?

If I remember correctly, Audi handed them their heads.

its not always 24 hours. there's 4 classes

GT1
GT2
P1
P2

the gt cars are all production based: vipers, vettes, etc. the p (prototype) cars a much less regulated and include the audi R8R, the Courage C65, etc

Here's a shot of the bare block R26B that was in the 787B. It's also on that website.

Here is the short lived but beautiful RX792P race car.

jap heads? u should watch what you're saying buddy.

and i believe the japanese dont go into lemans because it is already mainly european and japanese people are more fascinated by F1 which is why Toyota and Honda has invested so much into it. Honda this year just bought and took conrol of BAR while Toyota is taking leaps forward with their new engine and hope in their new drivers. Plus internationally F1 is the most popular racing sport on TV, giving them a huge audience to publicize toward. LeMans is already controlled by Audi, while go into their territory where they can make a name for themselves in F1 and gain more respect and more viewers

I believe it's the first weekend in June. It starts at 4pm on Saturday and ends at 4pm on Sunday.

Um, the 24 Hours of Le Mans is always 24 hours.

What has happened that may make it a bit more confusing is that there's a sister organization called the American Le Mans Series. They run to Le Mans specifications. The ACO (Automobile Club de l'Ost, or something like that) which is the sanctioning body for Le Mans only runs that one race in France, I believe. So, the 12 hours of Sebring is run under ALMS/ACO rules. There's also the Petite Le Mans at Road Atlanta which is 1000 km or 10 hours, which ever comes first. There's also a race at Laguna Seca I think.

If you want to get an idea of what the race at Le Mans is like, get a copy of the Steve McQueen movie called, funnily enough "Le Mans." It is by no means high cinematic art, but it is a great racing movie.

Sorry to have to inform you, but that term still strikes like a hot iron through lots of people's guts. I'm also of Japanese descent and can tell you that all my relatives were "interned" along with the other (count'em) 110,000+ in families of Japanese-American U.S Citizens and my dad (U.S born, descended from Samurai, city named after us, castles, caligraphies from the Emperor, the whole bit, you know...) was courts martialed and sentenced to hard labor at Ft. Levenworth, KA, for protesting that injustice. Tho he and the others who stood by him were amnestied after the War, the experience didn't do him much good and he died at 44, due to stomach problems that he carried out of prison. (His surviving compatriots later had their dishonorable discharges reversed, in 1985 - you can find out more from the PBS film, "The Colour of Honour" about the Japanese-American contributions in the military in WWII.) Btw, I had a co-worker whose family properties, like all those interned, were confiscated and not returned after the War. In his case, they owned a large chunk of what is now Santa Monica, CA (like they would be Billionaires, these days!). You might find that most of the J-A community will be several generations more, before we recover anywhere near the capability we had prior. So sure, we don't need to be told to "chill", baby. (I should do so, in your case though, since your lack of understanding is probably a direct result of the cultural vacuum resulting from that unfortunate experience.) Oh, yeah, my Mom got the $20,000 "reparations". Too, bad she had to blow it in one year (of a decade) on cancer treatments, due to not having any type of insurance, like most of us folks from So. Central, L.A. (Had to live where those FBI guys wanted, McCarthy "Black List" Era, and all.)

Again. sorry folks for the "waah!! waah!!" history lesson, but I couldn't let that one slide. Especially coming from a possibly fellow "victim". Back to the rotary revolution! :D
