Hail Storm!!!

I got caught in 5 mins of a hailstorm tonight on the way home - golfball sized hail came out of nowhere and I did my best to squeeze under a bridge on the highway but it was too late - I've had my rx8 for a little under 2 weeks and now the entire hood and roof is covered in dents - i'm ready to cry ...i called my insurance but b/c of the holiday i won't know if it's covered until the adjuster calls me on tues...i've never seen anything like it in my life until now...ugh.

i took pics but it doesn't show the extent of the damage so it's not worth posting

try to be a little sympathetic. he might plan on posting pics when it's lighter out. if you noticed what time he posted, it was well past dark. karstman, i was stuck in the same storm, fortunately we didn't get the hail here, just alot of downed lines and wind. good luck with insurance, it should be covered under comprehensive with a slight deductible. someone threw chunks of cement at my car and a few others on the block and the dents and scratches were covered.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe they'll let you get a CF hood?

I've had hail damage before on other cars. I can imagine what an aluminum hood is going to look like after that. If thunderstorms are in the forecast, the 8 goes in the garage and stays there. I feel for you man.

Same here...I have also had one of my vehicles caught out in golf-ball size hail and it left about 40 divots in the hood, roof, and sides. Some will be very evident, but some won't be, and you have to look very closely to make sure you get all of them identified and fixed. Do the paintless dent removal if you can as respraying your car will never be as good as the factory finish.

Like psychodad, I am fortunate that I can drive a differnt vehicle on stormy days and avoid messing the 8 up. Sorry to hear about your misfortune man, especially with such a new vehicle.

pics...

these are the best i could get - i guess it's not as bad as the canary yellow rx8 hail damage photos - but these shots really don't show the true extent of the damage - the hood has about 25-30 dents, the roof about 15-20, and the doors a couple...

It'll rub out.

BTW, about this paintless dent removal. Is it really that swuft? I've always suspected all those cars I see with quarter sized spots of paint missing were the results of this years later.

Looks terrible. Hope it gets fixed. The dentless removal shops probably will be able to help.

If it's "dentless", then what will they be removing?

sorry to hear but it's easily fixed
Your damage is meager compared to what happened to me 2 years ago, if you need solace or consolation look up my thread, it'll make you feel better in a heartbeat

I think it's called paintless dent removal...
They remove the dents without affecting your current paint finish.
