Aeterna,
If you go back a few pages on the thread you will see that I have already contacted them and requested a price quote, and they have the pic as well....but good luck and if they reply let us know what they have to say.

Well I tried a couple of variations of the basic design at work and none of them look as clean or nice as the one I posted, so aside from creating one thats a little wider outside (maybe to match the fat part of the 8) I don't think I really want to change it. Making the 8 match the RX-8 font exactly makes it too short vertically to fill the rotor, thus it looks off balance. Plus, since the 8 is tilted, it throws the balance of the design off to one side, or creates uneven negative space top and bottom. I didn't like any of those versions so I'm not gonna share - I'd prefer to have any emblems I buy look like the design I already posted, myself. If any one else wants to try designing one feel free and go ahead! If its better, kudos, if not, I'll lobby for my own work :-)

I haven't read what you guys have wrote so far, so i'm not really updated... however, from the badge on page 3 or so, i'm making a prototype of approx 5-6in wide for the tri8 badge. It is going to be laser cut, 1mm thick, and made of stainless steel.
If you guys are interested, let me know. I'll be posting pictures as soon as it is available.

Here are a couple ideas, building on those that have already been made. Not to take away from them but just as a possible alternate. I thought I might try with an 8 that is more like the true 8, and also try something a little different (got the idea from the post reply button - it might have even been done before, I can't remember )

Nick I like the first one you did the best.
I received a price quote from the second of the three companies that I had contacted. "Mila" company quoted a price so high that providing the details would make you want to cry. The minimal cost was over $5,000.00 USD! If you want the exact details I can supply them but I think that it is way out of the ballpark for what we are trying to accomplish here.

Hello everyone. I'm still here in NY in this @#$& project, It took longer than expecter and I'll be here for the next 2 weeks so I won't be able to quote in Colombia personally. However, I'm contacting the people there to see if they can asist me with that. I can't give my word on anything if I don't do it myself BUT I'll see if I can arrange the info we need from here. I'll post any progress.

Being a graphic designer myself, I often purchase outside stuff like this. I think the main thing those kind sould who are quoting this stuff around should remember to ask is: are they quoting as a one-time run? Meaning one person will need to front the money and take delivery of all of the pieces (and pay the total then resell to us interested parties). Or are they willing to produce these and let us order them as we want? Just a thought for all of you who are quoting....you probably aren't interested in a bunch of emblems (esp if no one wants them) to have them sitting in your living room waiting for buyers.

BTW Raz, the emblem looks great!!! Nice work. And I'm bringing you along to my next meeting where someone asks how you get the stuff on paper to look pretty on the computer. You can explain away!!!

She Devil,
You are correct in your statement that you provided earlier. While we do have 28 pages to this thread, we are far from the numbers required to have the run made, much less the risk one would take for paying up front for the entire order out of pocket and waiting for the items to be purchased. Quite frankly, I thought that more people would be interested but at this stage (design/price quote) it is hard to sell a product that you do not have in hand........I feel that most folks are sitting and watching and if we come up with a good product they will commit. Sounds like a quote from TV, "build it and they will come"

Try making a new thread to guage interest, see if the mods would make it a sticky. That way it's more likely to be seen. I love the design that Raz did and as I said before I'd be interested in a few.

I agree with RX8Pusher, if the product is good, and price point is appealing, we'll have more people to commit. At this point we need a best-guess ballpark figure for cost per emblem, and then get a thread going based on this guess. I've seen too many threads have committed members and when prices are revealed, members drop, and the numbers commited becomes obscure, and harder to track.
Let's have the numbers up front, and start a new thread for those seriously interested. Those who have gotten quotes, please report your numbers again.

I was thinking tonight, does the Emblem on the back need to be curved like the one on the front. If not then would we have to order 2 different versions of the emblem. One for the back and one for the front?

I'm tapping in and out of this thread... I need to read it in more detail but from the jist i get.. here is what the deal is:
As much as you guys would like to just have these made by order and put on simply for the love of the car... it cant work like that... it has to be a business especially when i look at the costs... and if its a business... there is risk (sorry guys).
If I had money i would take the risk on these..... set up a web store and sell it through that... Further, I know for a fact that I can sell these badges here in Toronto. There are so many stores here that sell lil "doodads" and "knic knacks" for cars. most of it is purely rice (no offence) but they sell! and the people that sell these things are negotiable and shouldnt be hard to work over at all

pardon my laziness, but there are a bagillion posts in this thread. Does someone have a dimensioned drawing of this thing? I want to see if I can make something like this on our CNC machine.

TODreamer,
Well, as far as I know we are waiting for some price estimates from a club member who goes/has contacts in Colombia. Once we get that data we will take all of the price quotes and decide on a vendor. Concurrently, the designer of the emblem will add his final touches, add measurements, then we need to figure out the payment plan...that will be the ruff one, once that gets worked out the initial production prototype will be made and sent for review/acceptance, then the first production run will be made and delivered to the club members who want them. The whole process can be time consuming, remember Rome was not built in a day, but it was built.
Cheers, RX8 Pusher

I do this kind of stuff for a living (not car badges, but subcontracting to vendors and reselling to my end clients) so I can help someone with the logistics if you'd like, but I'm not willing to pony up the cash for the entire run. Sorry, just being honest.
