import tuner review of racing beat products w/ dyno
thought some of you guys might find this interesting. this is from the april issue:
i think it's safe to say mazda engineered the car pretty well. besides a greddy, you arent going to make this car much faster, just louder. i think i'll leave my car stock:

I learned something very valuable from this article. I didn't know that rotaries were notorious for breaking down. I should head the advice of this article and go trade in my baby. So all of you on this forum are full of ****, because Import Tuner is > all. And here I was under the impression that "drivers dont' kill rotaries, poor tuners do." Thank you all for misleading me, and I will be in the Steve bearing earthy sacrifices to it, on my porcelain shrine.

^ ditto, go get a civic. it'll not only save you gas money, but you can stomp on the gas pedal, get the race car feel. all WITHOUT SPEEDING BECAUSE ITS SO DAMN SLOW. on second thought, VTEC might be too much for you to handle, you should get a GEO METRO instead.

Import tuner has idiots writing those articles, btw.
They have no idea what they're talking about, most of the time, and obviously their research team is non-existant.
Examples: Rotary engines are notorious for breaking down...
The Rx-8 is the 4th generation of RX vehicle...
24% drivetrain loss...vice overated by the factory...
The magazine is almost worthless. And not just because of this article, but the general ricer attitude of most of their writing.

For the most part IT has gone downhill fast. I really used to appreciate their articles, models, and content, but I'm not too impressed anymore. Only good tuner mag is Modified. As far as the jackass above, why would you blame your problems on us? The constant advice you get here is tune, tune, tune, so where did we lead you wrong? You read one article from a subpar magazine and you are ready to trade your car in? I hope you are kidding. Wait till Mugatu sees this...that should be good for a one liner.

Perhaps I shouldn't shoot for sarcasm when people are reading in the wee hours of the morning. I seem to have caused a couple of people to catch that forum-woody that compels peeps to be so rough with their text.
PS: Does anyone else think that readhead on Mythbusters is cute as hell.
PPS: There should be a Mythbusters episode for the RX-8...the myth? "Teh RX-8 is teh slow." I think it would be very informative.

Skythe, The RX-8 is nothing like the RX's of the past or the RX-7. Just do some "Searching" and youll see. Its a grat car and I dont think Mazda is going to stop with the "Rotor" thing anytime soon. All kinds of people told me dont get the car its just going to fall a part. Well that what I thought when I went to GM. I said to my self:"Cool car but in the end its going to be ****." But just like "Lazi" said:"Your the one who bought the car" and thats how I feel. This is my car and I will never sell that dam thing for as long as I live. I plan on getting a RX-7 too and other cars. If I dont like it or them. I'll sell the dam things get a different ones. Its just like that.

I'm having a moment like that.

I actually got the sarcasm.
Anyway, yes, that article was so worthless it was unbelieavable.
Well wait, the technical data was useful, but the author was a freaking moron.
The only unreliable rotary was the FD because of improper heat management and a complicated twin sequential turbo system coupled with buyers who are unaware of how to properly maintain a turbocharged vehicle let alone a twin sequential turbocharged system.

Got the sarcasm, great post!
I knew those writers were full of **** when said, "most of our time was spent uninstalling the bumper..." WTF?! A blind gorilla with no arms could take off our front bumper in under 15 minutes!
Tools required: 10mm socket, phillips head screw driver, oh and HALF a brain would be useful as well...
