i know you didn't ask me, but what is pictured at the beginning of this thread is pretty much what you should go for (and what I will be shortly.) That is, a 10w7 (one of the best subs money can buy) and JL makes mono sub amps to power it (a 250 or 500 watt version.)

Actually, my answer would have been more like... it depends on your space and bass needs. Budget too of course. Not only for the speaker, but the amp as well. The 8 doesn't have a big trunk... and my last that had 2 12" in the trunk had no trunk. So for me the 10w7 in the 1 cu. ft. box is too big and I care about weight. I don't need chest thumping bass anymore, so I'm into the minimum size possible. I also don't have an unlimited budget for mods...

What are your needs and wants? If space and money isn't a big deal, then do like h0rde says. The 10w7 is a good speaker (not that 10w6v2 is bad either!)

Thanks to both of you, first of all, for your replies...

Well.... im into hiphop... but i dont like the "chest thumping bass" either... i do like bass but im goin more for the clean kick/bang... i hate when the whole car rattles... my friend has a 12" kicker and i think that the sound is not clean at all... my other friend who has an s2k had one single 10" and i thought it was pretty good... space is a very big deal to me and i do want some trunk space.... currently i am also reading this one thread where this guy had two JL audio 6" where the rear seats are through the passageway....

from what type of bass that i want (mentioned above) what do you guys recommend.... 2 6" in the passage or a JL 10" in the trunk??? or maybe even something better.... I am a definite hip hop head so i HAVE to get a system...

for hip hip you will need atleast 3 12's or the people outside the car will have trouble hearing the boomin bass from 3 blocks away!
