Got mine 3/13/6. Love it just as much today as I did when I pulled into the dealer lot & it was waiting right in front of the door waiting for me to sign.
The stainless steel strakes are cheaper than Mazda store aluminum even with exchange rate & shipping from the UK - back in April they were $120 USD vs. ~$190 for the "mazda" ones. Don't know what the cost would be for U, but they're at http://www.rx8-accessories.com/index.html if you want to check.

Good to see some more people from SA
Hey...
I'm in Fourways. It's good to see some more people from SA on this forum.
I've got a Velocity Red - 2004 model. I was just wondering - Phat8 - what all do you guys do at your store? Is it just sound? I've been thinking of modding a bit - but most of my cash is going towards a new house at the moment.
Where exactly is your store in Edenvale - I reckon I should pop round for a visit - check our your 8 (it looks really good).
The strakes that you spoke about - you can get them WAY cheaper from the UK - check out: http://www.rx8strakes.com or http://www.rx8-accessories.com - both offer strakes and accents for the front and back bumpers for quite decent prices - I was thinking of getting some myself.
Also - do you know anywhere I can get hold of Enkei rims? I REALLY like the new Mazdaspeed 2 style rims from Enkei - blue 8 attached. I reckon those are what I'd like to stick on my 8.
Lastly - do you know of anyone who does forced induction on 8's here in SA? I've looked around and can find a multitude of tuners for the rx7 but not the 8. The only kit I've come across if from Big Boss Auto (Petit Turbocharger kit) but they want +- R70 000 for it! That's a bit out of my range at the moment.
Otherwise - Enjoy your 8 - I know I love mine!

True - I forgot that you guys get the rear fog light in the "diffuser" area
Well, the rx8strakes.com site sells the accents for the rear - I imagine it's a US site. They also make an aftermarket rear "fog light" type light which lights up with the tail lights and brakes. Not sure I'd get it, but I do like the accents...

There's also a knock off rear accent - I've got it on my8. It's aluminum (so I guess not really a knock off) but made by rotary13b something or other. Got it on ebay 30 or 40 (USD$$$$) and am quite happy with it. I'll check the site tomorrow - it's bookmarked at work.
The front accent I got from Howard (rx8-accessories.com) was pretty expensive. His strakes are great & cheaper, but the front accent was more than the regular aluminum ones through mazda. Not sure if there are any front accents that are cheaper.

Thanks for the info. The ones on rx8strakes.com are pretty cheap because they're plastic. I think they go for something like $40 for the accents and $70 for the strakes. I'm not sure exactly how durable they'll be but the pricing is nice.
I'm not really focussed on modding my car at the moment, but I have started a little kitty that I'm just throwing a few extra Rands into each month that I can put towards little things like strakes and accents. I know there isn't a concensus on this forum in terms of whether the strakes look good or not. But I like them - I think the combination of the strakes and accents just add's that little bit extra to the car.

Turns out he's got the front & rear accents - $70 (USD) for both!
http://www.rotary13b1.com/order.html
I've got the rear accent & it's great. I would recommend adding a small piece of double sided sticky tape to the lower corner b4 applying it. Mine seems like it can wiggle a tiny bit. Don't have the front from this place, so I can't comment on the fitment.

Did Any One here local see 2 editions back in the Speed And Sound mag The Red Rx8 With The Chrome 20'' Mags? Talk About Spoiling The Look Of A Great Car! It's Not A Mercedes Benz Amg. And Fridges In The Boot...? as long as they happy with it i suppose. another thing I Was Very Dissapointed with When They Tested The Rx8 On The Power Laps Comparisons And Had Such Low Ratings The (5 Speed With 20'' Mags!) W.t.f ............................... At Least They Eventually Grew A Brain Or Got Alot Of Flak And Tested The 6 Speed Model A Couple Of Issues Later.

At the moment I'm just going to go for cosmetic stuff like the front and rear accents. I want to get a mesh grille for the back as well, but I actually want to take the car to a place that'll take the bumper off and actually cut out the plastic "fake" mesh grille and then put in a nice looking silver one. Any ideas of a good place to take the car to for that?
Thanks for the help again! I'll probably visit some time in the new year - I need to sort out the sound in the car too. Nothing major - was hoping to get away (for now) with just replacing the speakers with better ones - but I'll leave that chat for when I visit your store
