Personally what you call drifting I call rear wheel steering. I find it rather boring seeing it on the tracks like that. I do like to rear wheel steer at times though. I used to do it frequently on my ZX-7. I am not going to knock the fact that it takes major skill and practice. Drifting IMO is doing a 4 wheel slide through a corner controlled.

As far as team drifting or "tandem", when you get a chance to experience it firsthand it is poetry in motion..the skill and technique required to drive in such a way is an artform in itself. To exert such control over vehicle at all times is humbling. I had been to drifting events while stationed in Yokuska, the drivers have skills. I wish I had 1/10th the ability they possess

I'm not a big fan of drifting but it is more interesting to watch than NASCAR. Drifting use car that common folks drive on the street. Like the Rx7 and 8, Nissan 240sx(Silvia), Supra, 350z, and even the Pontiac GTO. NASCAR, dam, I don't remember a ford torus looking like that on the street. And it deffinetly doesn't screan performance when I seen one driving down the freeway. I guess the reason why they use it for NASCAR is that it is easier to make go in circle than turn left right or brake hard going into a corner.
