Keeping the car, Turbo is gone if it sells for a reasonable price.

Thanks, moving on to bigger and better things if it all falls into place. It will be like a completely different car.

there are only 2 options here...LSx or 20b N/A
Good luck with whichever one you choose.

Build thread on this one won't be posted til it's done.

Sorry Guys LOL

awesome catch can design. Gonna try making this. sick!

hoosier1104 03-31-2014 08:44 AM

Just flipped through the thread. Great work! Kind interested to see what is next. Hopefully it is not a piston engine. :puke:

Love the wirecare products, that stuff is harder to work with then I thought to be honest. Hard to get the shrink tubing down to size without destroying the braided sleeving. Also the bigger sleeving does not counter well to 90 degree bends. Evaluating a different approach but love the them

Thanks, it's still one of my favorite parts of the build!

Thanks, Still trying to figure a few things out before I commit 100%, but it may be... I guarantee it will be something you've never seen done before though.

Are you using the same sleeving that I used or one of their other products? The stuff I used I found really easy to work with. The heat shrink I found was easiest to heat from the connector towards the sleeving, I used a mini torch for this keeping the flame on the heat shrink. Also, after cutting the sleeving I immediately used the torch to singe the edges of the sleeving to prevent it from fraying.

I'm building a similar setup and I have run into a roadblock. I have a 1/2" spacer between the turbo and the manifold but the compressor housing is hitting the manifold. Did you cut the compressor housing or back-plate to get it to fit?

TeamRX8 05-13-2014 10:07 PM

Hard to be sure by just looking at a picture, but zooming into the last pic above it appears that the outer compressor housing has been ground off for clearance.

When I try to mount the trubo the front of the compressor housing clears but the back plate and back of the compressor housing doesn't. In MM's upgrade kit he said that he machined the backplate, I just want to know if KMA did the same because the way he mounted his turbo is a lot cleaner than MM's. I may try to enlarge the holes on the turbine flange of the turbo so I can shift it so it doesn't hit the manifold.

kma5783 05-14-2014 08:57 AM

Yes I did trim the housing and backplate. Be careful how far you go because you don't want to go too far and hit the O-Ring.

Thanks for the info, I will try it tonight.

Where did you get your turbo oil drain tube from?

9krpmrx8 10-15-2014 10:56 PM

It looks like the silicone high temp turbo drain hose from ATP turbo. That is what I have.

In this state it did it was pretty toasty when I pulled it recently after 20,000 miles.

So I redid it recently with fire sleeve over it, it shoudl last much longer this way.

9krpmrx8 10-16-2014 08:01 AM

I am sure he had it fabricated.

po_snake 10-16-2014 08:04 AM

I have the silicone hose already, I need the metal drain tube. The one KMA has looks like it was bought instead of fabricated like the ones MM used. I ordered a 5 degree tilt drain tube and I will try to make that work. But I'm not sure there will enough space to put a hose on it without extending the tube somehow.

All you need is a flange (common) tube, and a welder :)

I just finished reading this thread. super clean build and love the attention to detail!!

There is something so satisfying about reading a thread from start to finish its like binge watching a series on Netflix.

I enjoy reading this thread also keep up the good work.
