Modding your Rx8
Hi from Oztralia
I sincerely dont want this to be a dampener, but I thought I'd post it in case people are considering modding their 8, and not sure if they should.
I bought a stock standard WRX about 4 years ago. great car to drive. 1 year later, I had a power kit on it. Great extra punch. A few more mods here and there power wise and then wheels and then suspension. I spent $10K approx all up. There wasnt much more to do to the car. However, I had created soemthing far different from the original and ironically, looking back the car was better in it stock form. It was smoother, less aggressive, basically it was perfect as-is. Cetainly all the power mods placed more stress on the negine and decreased its life. Ok it was fun to do it once in my life, but looking back I would have had a great car leaving it alone and spending the $10K on holidays or something else.
Give serious thought to modifying your Rx8. Once you start you'll find it hard to stop. After all, you already had a magnificent machine already. Mazda spent many $$$ perfecting the car, why much around with it? :o
all the best.

It's sort of like tattoos... Once you start, you want to keep adding to it. One day when you're a slight older and in a different mindset, you look at your body and say "damn I wish it was stock again..."

I just don't think the rx8 is the kind of car you should buy to mod anyway. It's an awful lot of time and money to spend to get very little power gains out of it, not to mention affect long term reliability. Down road they will have heavy mods to make this car fly, but you are definitely going to ruin the car a lot faster with a turbo on it. The rx8 is a show machine, so modifying is done mostly for cosmetic purposes, it's a rich man's ricer.

clear corners are a must...beyond that...nothing really needs to be changed, but you only live once...
mods are like buying a lingerie present for your girlfriend...they are exciting and fun at first when you put them on her but after a while you need to get something new since the older stuff isn't really doing it for you anymore

love your avatar bluefrenzy! I grew up watching my friends do everything possible to there cars while I was driving a 4 door accord that I felt shouldn't even be bothered to be modded, now that I have the 8 its time to play catch up . Everyone don't want to be caught wearing the same shirt as someone else in the same room, I guess its the same for cars. It's a way to showoff your originality.

After spending well over 17K on my last car ('00 Jetta GLX), and sayin' to myself... ' it was fun, but i'd prolly never waste my cash like that again '...Here I am again really wanting to personalize my 8 (rather than rake more perf. out of it) to my particular tastes...
I keep telling my friends, the modding bug never stops biting! :D
