Mt St Helens drive via Windy Ridge
Went on a drive with pdxhak, pyran and jfn08m up to Mt St Helens. We went up the east side unlike most of the Mazda drives that go up the west side. We didn't make it all the way up to Windy Ridge because the road was closed, but we still got a pretty good view of the mountain. The route up there is pure twisties and a very intense drive (think Tail of the Dragon, but for about 40 miles!). Anyway some pics.
jfn08m and me (on time at the meet up point):
with pdxhak and pyran:
At the top:
The volcano:
Comin' down the mountain:
Pit stop at the bottom:
Back to civilization (busy freeway home):

Great pics!!! I miss the Great Northwest. All the beautiful mountains and trees.
Fabulous pic of Mt. St Helens. I remember watching the plume on the way to work when I lived in Bellevue. What an awesome site that was. The power of Mother Nature is amazing. Makes you feel like kinda insignificant in comparison.

I wish I could have gotten more pics of the scenery, but the drive is pretty intense so I couldn't really take photos while driving. The one pic of the other three guys in my mirror was taken while stuck behind a camper, but slower traffic is surprisingly good about pulling over when you come up behind them so that's the only one I got.

Thank you guys (Aipex8, pdxhak, pyran) for a great ride! It was as much fun as I have ever had on a drive. Granted, I cant say I have been on anything that intense before. When you said that drive would be technical, you weren't kidding. Awesome pics Aipex8! You did a great job at capturing the trip and all of its glory. (And the fact that you and I were on time!)

That was my bad. I was giving pyran a hard time about being on time and I'm the one that shows up late

LOL if you call ripping up and down 60+ miles (each way) of twisty mountain road peaceful
It was an awesome drive. Plenty of challenging terrain and elevation change to keep you very interested in what is front of you
