I just got my rotor hubs cleaned and silver powder coated at the dealer two days ago for free. If you're still covered under powertrain warranty, you can get it done at your dealer at free of charge.
My car is 04 and has 44k miles......
Here's something you can show to your dealer, if they refuse to do it...

Rust can be seen on the brake rotor hub area when looking between the wheel spokes. The rust is most visible on vehicles equipped with 17" chrome wheels. 1. Remove rust from hub(s) by sanding. 2. Clean/prep hub surface for primer. 3. Mask off brake rotor area. 4. Apply primer around entire hub area. 5. Once primer dries, apply a heat type silver paint to the affected area to repair the vehicle. Note: Replace the rotor(s) only if the affected area cannot be repaired enough to satisfy the customer.

Rotors and calipers can be powdercoated and this will hold up better than paint in the long run. Paint tends to fade and deteriorate with use and heat. Powdercoat tends to stay in better condition for longer even under higher heat, because it is baked/cured on.
For those interested I could offer powdercoating. Here are some brakes I did on my rx7 a couple years ago.

Cav...I actually copied from the comment of one of the members here. There was the thread about it long time ago.
I e-mailed the service manager at my Mazda Dealer and pasted the whole thing in the e-mail asking him, if they could do it.
He said they could and asked me to come in..
I went in there two days ago....it took about a day for them to powdercoat all 4 rotors.....
They came out looking like brand new.... I'm pretty satisfied and happy that I didn't have to do it myself or buy a new set of rotors....
Now I can spend my money on somethingelse...!!!!!! haha!
You can do the same....print it out and show it to the dealer or paste it in the e-mail, if you have their e-mail.... They say it's not bulletin...so you might have to ask them to look around on Mazda recall board...but it's there..
Good luck!

Also, why dont any of you (fellas that posted pics) paint the dust shield as well? You get a nice looking rotor and then it is overshadowed by a rusty *** shield. Painted mine in a couple coats of black caliper paint a year ago and they still look great. makes a world of diff along with black painted calipers.

^ Yes, Dealer will only powder coat the rotor hubs, if they're rusty. Not the calipers.
If you want your calipers painted, you need to do it yourself.
I personally like OEM grey/silver. Colored calipers are not really my style.
My car is 04 and has 44K+ miles on it. They still did it at free of charge. It was covered under warranty.
But the recall is for only 04s, I think.
