---MUST SEE---Track Day--ENGLISHTOWN RACEWAY---NEW COURSE.....GRAND OPENING.....
After a couple of years of trying Raceway Park finally opened their road course and is let people drive on it for FREE this weekend.
So I went. I had blast. Being at this event was like something out of those J-spec vids on youTube. Just to be on the track with all these amazing cars was a great experience in within its self.
When arriving they had two rows of cars. The left for experienced drivers and the right for the novice. They would take about six cars at a time on the experienced side, and on the novice they would do 12 cars. The bad thing their was no passing permitted. BUTTTT they spaced the cars out about 20 seconds each. And you got 5 laps a session. Let me tell you I ripped the SH*t out of that track. I was on three wheels, and doing four wheel drifts. I pushed my car to the limit every second i was on that track. I learned tips from the instuctors and got about 3 sessions in before i left. I have to say this is probably one of the best track days i have experienced; especially for free.
Englishtown, NJ May 20, 2008 – For road racing enthusiasts, the long wait is finally over, and Old Bridge
Township Raceway Park is ready to officially unveil their new road course to the public. The road course is
1.35 miles, and a minimum of 40' wide, save for the 1,400 ft straightaway which measures 50' wide. Some
highlights of the track include a 90 degree right turn, a 16 degree banked left turn, and a mini corkscrew.
To oversee operations at the road course, Raceway Park is proud to announce that they have hired longtime
instructor, and former Nascar Craftsman Truck Series racer Chris Winter. Chris has been an instructor for
various road racing series since he was 18 years old, and now has the privilege of being the mentor for new
instructors with the Performance Drivers Association.
“I want to thank Michael Napp and Kevin Markland for the opportunity to provide New Jersey with a premiere
road racing circuit. Raceway Park has been recognized as a world class drag racing facility for over 40 years,
and with the addition of the new 1.35 mile road course, Raceway Park will continue to be one of the top multi-
motorsport facilities in the nation,” remarked Chris Winter, the facility’s new Road Course Director.
The new road course is now available for track rentals, driving schools, and more. It makes for a great
corporate team building event, track time for a car club, or simply a group of friends that want to hone their
driving skills.
To celebrate the official opening of the road course, Raceway Park will be opening it to the public for free lap
time over the course of three days, June 6th, 7th, and 8th. For more information on how to be a part of this
special event, please stay tuned to our website at www.racewaypark.com. See you at the road course!

Bro track was amazing. I lived in second gear through the twisties. In the straight I broke a Hundred. The cork screw was fun - but you have to know your car; you could definitly end up in a wall on this track easy. The track complements our cars. i started 20 sec behined a worked wrx and i cought right up to his bumper. But running the track at 100 degrees outside - it took a toll on the tires.

Dude their was one run with a wrx, then me a s2000, 350z, M3, and evo. It was sureal (If thats how you spell it) we all were just nailing it. Bro I'm talking about getting inches from the walls. breaking as late as possible before turns. It was crazy. I drove home with a big smile. lmao

The track was pretty nice. Kind of slow for a road course (barely topping out 3rd gear on the back straight), but lots of technical sections which are fun. They marked the apexes and turn in points with cones so it was pretty easy to learn the line. And after that it was alot of fun.
Highlights of the track:
- series of turns right after the main straight - you have a pretty slow right hander right after the straight where you're tickling 90mph; the braking zone is slightly downhill and the turn ends up being off camber, but if you go wide and late apex it you end up hitting the apex of the next left hander perferctly (which happens to be on an uphill so you suddenly have a bunch of traction and feel like you get slingshot to a couple inches of the edge). This is actually one of the places where it's kind of easy to hit a wall. You really need to go out almost to the edge of the track cos that's where the line is, but if you overdo it and go in the grass you're toast cos there's a wall 3 feet from the edge of the track, for no apparent reason. As you crest the hill you have to aim for the other edge of the track cos the next corner is coming right up.
- the corkscrew - that thing was scary, but so much fun. I was taking it easy through the turn right before it (it was definitely a 3rd gear turn but I was taking it in second cos it was bump as hell and my shocks are dead). The corkscrew itself is a tight right hander with a wall around the outer edge. You basically dive into it (late apexing just slightly), and you can floor the accelerator as soon as you have the car set, which was typically way before the apex. Ended up taking the turn around 60 and coming out maybe 12 inches from the wall on the other side. And then you gotta brake for the next turn, realizing you now have normal traction again. Kickass!
- the esses right after the corkscrew - this was fun since the section between the turns suddenly goes downhill and the second turn is a bit off camber. Gotta be real careful shifting the weight back over for the second turn. Did a couple of nice little drifts on this section.
All in all, a fun track but not as quick as I expected it to be. The surface is torn up in a couple of spots (didn't this thing just open?? wtf?) and the straight is too slow. But if you want to work on handling not top speed this is a good place to be.
