Talking My 8 with Angel Eyes

I still have to install this but you get the idea.

The mods so far are Window tints, radar detector and the angel eyes which I will be installing next weekend.

The rings for the angel eyes I made myself. Instructions

Please give your opinion :-)

I'd like to see the instructions for the Angel Eyes, but the link to it says that it is "expired". Looks like it will be a pretty cool mod. be sure to post the pics of them when they are installed.

There's this geocities page that covers it too:

Please do a DIY on the whole process of actually installing them. That would be incredible.

Definiteley will. I have been taking pictures of the whole process so I can post a DIY when I'm finished.

Still a litle scared of breaking the things (headlamps) when taking them apart but no pain no gain :-D

If I dont get electrocuted first by the HID lights hehe...

Rice? Why would you do this to a nearly perfect front and rear light cluster? (Used to own RX-8) I even own an M3, and I am not going to do it.

That does look nice!

unfortunately looks like we're all killing that other guy's Geocities page

There is a Google cached version here, sans pictures of course:

http://www.google.ca/search?q=cache:...yes.htm+&hl=en

But its better than nothing.

Kudos to you, I did this on a previous car and definitly no the easiest thing to do. Has anyone actually broken the headlights open?

BTW I think it looks good, just don't make them too bright.

Lightbulb RICE, I mean Nice

I like that...always loved the way the BMW looked with that.....I'm considering this mod on my 8.

The only concern would be the headlights been sealed right so they wont build moisture inside.

hmmm, I can't wait to see the finished product, but would be worried about ruining the moisture seal of the lights housing.

The only pair of aftermarket angel eyes I have ever seen and liked were Demon Eyes or something like that, they were on my buddies E46. They were nice becuase they were visible in the daytime and had a consistent light around the entire hoop. I have seen a lot of LED aftermarkey kits with inconsistent lighting.

I would also look into fibre optic cable. It is kinda like those christmas lights that were all the rage last year. You can buy a fine cable of it which lights up then form it in any way you want to get a consistent light. Probably pretty expensive and the install might be tricky.

I don't know, good luck and be sure to keep us updated!! :D

I don't like it. It looks cheap. I mean you can see the wiring in between the lights.

what wires are you referring too? the ones that connect the LED's at the top. When installed those will likely be hidden, if not, I have seen a lot of people put a set of eye brows on their lenses to cover the very top of the angel eye, thus hiding the wires. I think this could look good, although, like I said, I would much rather have a set of Demon eyes or fibre optics.

I think it is good that he is trying it though

MyRxBad?
What do you mean it looks cheap? the construction or the install?? I hope you noticed that they aren't installed yet. Tha cables you see in the picture are there because I have them hooked up to a battery so they light up for the picture.

For the install I am thinking of actualy cuting the bottom pannel of the head lamp so that the ring goes into it and the cables remain hidden under the black plastic on the bottom. This way the ring lights up all the way arround the head lamp and where the headlamp touches the bottom plastic the rings disapere into it.

Apologies as I am probably being a bit thick but what are demon eyes?

Anthony

PS - From what I have seen so far I think it will look superb,
