That sucks. Hopefully everything works out ok. I am almost 17 and have had my license for almost a year. Luckily I haven't been in an accident. The only thing I did was scrape the side of my garage, but the car still needs to be fixed because I slightly dented the rear fender. Make sure you never are in someone's blind spot again. Always be alert, because in any instant someone could hit you, just like what you experienced. I never tailgate people because most drivers suck, and could just slam on their brakes at the last second. Surprisingly, many people don't even look in their mirrors or turn their head when changing lanes, which is why there are so many accidents. When I am on the highway or a two lane road, I always make sure someone isn't near me, so I don't get smashed. When you get more experienced, you will notice these things very easily.

if anyone has ever driven in vegas they should know how bad the drivers are out here, they are sooo bad, they never let anyone in, speed up when you signal so you cant get in the lane, its so annoying, you have to pay 110% attention all times, there are so many accidents here.

I feel bad for you dude, its something that wasnt your fault and she drove off. Like Jason said try and keep your chin up and everything will work out.

ouch...good to know you're okay tho. you shouldn't stay in some other car's blindspot. i either speed up to where they can see me or slow down where they can't hit me.

That was a very hard way to find out about the "stay away from the blind spot" rule. At least you learned it in a car and not a motorcycle.

Thx for everyones condolences, I've got an update from the insurance company...They explained that they have a list of auto body shops that they trust and use often. Then I have to pick one, that shop will fix the car to perfection unless it is seen as totaled, when its all "fixed" and i say that the paint isn't up to par, or the hood is not perfect, they will fix it to my liking. Opposite of other peoples situations, the car will be fixed to the stock shape, i cant get a free body kit out of this. At this point i just want my baby back so its ok.

For the past 3 years and 11 months, I've learned that, there are 3 types of drivers to Avoid :

1. Drunk drivers - Drink and drive is OK IMO, a cup of beer, wow, big deal. It wont affect your ability to react, but when they're Drunk, say, more than a cup or a bottle of beer, thats another story, I 'seen a lot them swifting around lanes and stuff, you can tell that the driver cant go straight, avoid those
2. Old drivers - If they look old to you(to me), avoid them. They often have slow reaction and want to go 35 mph when everyone else doing 60 mph on highway. Avoid them
3. Female drivers - They are simply blind, blind spot or not. they never check anywhere before they switch lanes, and want to go as slow if not slow than the old driver group. Or they can go F2F without knowing that they cant drive for ****. I know a lot of female drivers on this board but hey, Im sorry, thats how I see it, at least in New York City. and when I go out with my friends w/o my car, as soon as I found out the driver is a female(or male but drunk), I will just say bye and call Car service myself.

Hope it works out for ya.

Check your state laws!!!

Most states make it illegal for an insurance company to force you to use one of their "recommended" body shops. A good, non-affiliated body shop of your choice can probably work in a body kit with you paying any extra costs over what the cost would be with stock parts.

well its not that they are forcing me. If i want to go to a shop that isn't on their list, they will give me a check the shop will quote me for. but if there is a problem and it suddenly cost 3k more then they wont budge on the money they gave me.if i use their shop its basically unlimited money. If i think something isn't up to par they will without question fix it. But since most of the car will be repainted. i thought i could maybe throw a few bills of my own and get a "custom" color painted on the whole car. Nothing rice but definitely classy and unique...any ideas?

What does your parents have to say about all of this? Are they still gonna make you pay for the increase of premium?

What they told me is to not worry about it. but just so we dont struggle with money or w/e i would feel better if i did help anyway, even tho they probably wont make me pay the increase. I want to just to be kind to my family, ya know? its a pride thing or something.

Won't hurt to get a job and make some extra $$ whether you pay the extra or not.

check that again. i was just in an accident in my other car and have state farm (i think i remember you saying earlier in the thread that is who you have but am too lazy to check) as well. i picked a shop that had been recommended by a friend, state farm came out and made a list and how much it should be, they cut a check for that amount (minus deductable), i took that to the shop, he fixed it, he took the check, i walked away with the car. it wasn't on their list but was just as easy.
