Looks good

Looks great man... I assume you are driving this car... so really no need to detail the engine compartment. Looks like the guy who polished it did a really nice job... Do you mind if I asked how much he charged?

depends on your defenition of detail. If you mean waxing things, polishing things up, etc... then no its not necessary. BUT good cleaning is a part of maintenance. Go look at a random 12 year old beater's engine bay, and really pay attention to the small stuff.... corrosion, things cracking/breaking/wearing needlessly. Much of that can be taken care of with maintenance/cleaning/protecting.

Again... nice job

Looks like they did a really good job from the pics.

depends on your defenition of detail. If you mean waxing things, polishing things up, etc... then no its not necessary. BUT good cleaning is a part of maintenance. Go look at a random 12 year old beater's engine bay, and really pay attention to the small stuff.... corrosion, things cracking/breaking/wearing needlessly. Actually my defInition of "detail" would be just as you said... anything above and beyond what is necessary to ensure that damage or malfunction is not occurring needlessly or obscured when it does occur. However the true point of my post was to praise his new baby and counter-act some of the negative I was starting to hear filtering in. Looking back at the pictures of his engine compartment... it does seem he has some powder or dust that might deserve a little attention, however from the pictures I wouldn't say he has any real mechanical issues looming due to a "dirty" engine compartment.

This forum is frequently frustrating for a couple of reasons... this is a relatively reasonably priced sports car which tends to attract younger buyers who have a truly inordinate amount of time to spend on their cars... in fact, sometimes it seems that any car they can afford is worthy of being a show car. I also own a 2004 which I have kept mostly stock and very clean (because I love it) but I probably would not post pics (especially of the engine compartment) because I would not want endure the non-stop armchair critique of everyone with a computer and an opinion telling me that I should have _______ (strakes, clear corners, vinyl graphics, etc.) with an equal number grumbling that they don't like my _________ (strakes, clear corners, vinyl graphics, etc.).

The other frustrating thing about this forum is that it is just that... an internet forum. This naturally attracts the type of person who metaphorically walks around with about $500 of pennies in his/her pockets constantly ready to make change 2 cents at a time.

I'm not necessarily excluding myself from the above stereotype ... but everything is a matter of degree

Anyway... again my point is ... ignore the negativity... looks like you really improved the look of your car.

That school looks pretty familiar... are you somewhere north of montreal?

car looks good but take a picture with the sun directly in it so you have a direct comparison to the one with swirls...
