one thing that i've been noticing with all the painted caliper posts is that that surface of the oem calipers is kind of like a meteor rock, which is why i guess after painting the caliper looks all textured and granular up close- instead of being slick & smooth.

has anyone tried sanding the outer surface of the caliper first to make it smooth and what does that look like? did it make any noticeable difference?

am just curious. thanks.

From the pics, it doesn't look bad at all. Kinda how anodized aluminum "blue" never really matches anything yet still "matches" because you know that that's the only blue available in anodized blue...

However the lighting in your pics is kinda low and I can't really tell. If it were off, and it was my car--I'd trip. That's how I am with my cars. If a friend has a scratch in their car, I usually tell them that it's minimal and not to worry. But put 1/2 the scratch on my car...I'd go straight to the body shop. If you aren't happy, what I'd do is I'd paint them over with a neutral color that can't go bad. Black or Gunmetal for example. Even red caplipers won't look bad on a blue car...I wouldn't paint my calipers red, though...

IMO black would be the way for you to go, That's what scares me about going Silver is just what you said "IF IT MATCHED THE RIMS". Remember you weren't happy about the way the blues matched up, so I think you'll be a lot happier with the black. Again just IMO.

Pictures kinda over exaggerate what hey really look like, they aren't that meteor looking unless you get up on them and how often does on really do that. Also, I had to use a flash in some of my pics and that makes them look worse than they really are.
