This is entirely different than the HKS. The HKS does not hae the muffler w/tip look that this does.

Good job for doing it on your own but really, if you're going to try to be unique why would you use a cheapo universal muffler? I personally am (eventually) planning on a custom single exit full 3" RS*R headerback exhaust...

If you were going to create a single custom exhaust you should have carved out the rear rotary accent and made the tip come out from there

props for taking the initiative of doing something 'unique' since that is what the rx8 is.
So A+ for effort. About a D for execution. You will get the same amount of flow with most of the aftermarket exhausts on the market. But hey, it's your ride, it's your money, so do what you want.

It could sound like a Ferarri and still wouldnt change the fact that is looks cheap and doesnt fit the look for an 8. Though the HKS is nice, i still dont think it looks right with 2 exhaust shrouds with one empty. Now, if there was a rear bumper designed for the single or one that is just straight across without the openings, thats a diff story (for the HKS that is).

Good lord gh8st! That BOOTY in ur avy is insane, motor boat time, LOL

If it sounds good then it's alright. Though the HKS looks better in my opinion but still never sure how I feel about a single sided exhaust on a dual exhaust bumper.

Question is how much did you pay for it? If it cost more than the HKS then I dont think it was worth it...

The rotary motor produces a tremendous amount of heat compared to piston engines. You have now reduced the number of exit paths of the heat from two to one and therefore the single tip muffler your have will release more heat than before. One byproduct of changing the exhaust from mild steel which composes the majority of your exhaust to stainlees steel at the tip is that it will absorb more heat than previousely. The factory design incorporates large heat shields that will keep the heat from radiating into your chassis. You bumper will melt faster than the marshmallow man in ghostbusters.

Hey your Right it could sound like a Ferarri but it does look cheap and it doesn't look good on the 8 however a couple a weeks ago I found This Vid of an 8 with a Apexi N1 universal turbo muffler..custom 3" cat-back piping. Now I said to myself Ok this won't look right on the 8 but after seeing the Vid it took me back to the days when I own My Eclipse GSX which had an Apexi N1 Exhaust with Apexi N1 Downpipe which I loved. I would Like to see a vid of the 8 in question because After seeing the Vid I saw on youtube. I would like to hear another custom setup on the 8. here is the link for anyone to see

You do realize that an exhuast mod on a stock 8 barely does anything.... Second note, the pepboys special will still be called ricey even if you remain stock body. Other than that, not feeling the look but GL

The stay puft marshmallow man was Ghostbuster the original, not #2.

#2 was the mood slime and Vigo the Carpathian.

The analogy was good though... melted plastic all over the 6 in exhaust tip with black carbon build up on the rest of the bumper.

I agree with what Ghost said: A+ for effort, but poor execution. This may be one of those mods that is on the car for awhile until you can take it in another direction.

Lets hear that sound clip.

I'd like to see a shot of the full back to get a feel for how the asymetry of that setup looks before I give an opinion.
