My (not so) beautiful car (not 56k friendly)
I don't know what it is about the 8, but since I bought the 8, I've constantly been dodging other cars. Seems like the 8 is magnets for idiots and dumbasses who don't know how to drive. It just sucks them on over when they're in the lane next to you, or causes stop lights and signs to be ignored. Here's the result of a 16 year old girl finally killing my car. She ran a stop sign at 40 mph (she never even slowed down) and slammed me square in the passenger side. Nobody involved was injured at all.
This proves two things to me. First, some people are idiots. Second, ice cream is evil (I was making an ice cream run for my wife when I got T-boned).
The officer at the scene said the 8 was "in remarkably good shape." I told him he should have seen it before it was hit....

That is the first picture of a messed up 8 that has made me cringe.
I've seen a lot in awful condition and totalled...but that picture just hits me!
Sorry about the car, I hope you can get it repaired.

The SUV behind your car, that isn't the 16 year old girls car, is it? If it is, It hardly looks touched, just a slightly bent hood (althought the photo is blocking the front end).

For being hit at 40 MPH your car is in amazing condition. Regardless, I'm happy that you look better than the car after that accident. Good luck, I hope you get another 8 and stick around!

I'm still waiting on the word from the insurance adjuster. The accident happened late Saturday night, and the claim wasn't filed until 9:30 Monday morning (Eastern time) since the girl's insurance company isn't open on the weekend. The adjuster should be looking at the car sometime today. The shop which has the car thinks it should be totaled. I hope like hell it's totaled, cause I don't want a repaired 9 month old car. I want my still-smelling- and looking-like-new 9 month old car.
The impact knocked the wheel off - I could see it flying off as I was doing 360's down the road.
The girl's car was a 94 Celica. It was destroyed.

Man that sucks but I know what you mean. My car has already been wrecked twice by people who were not paying attention.
Keep us posted on what repairs are needed and how long it takes to do the work.

Man, is her insurance going to skyrocket. They better total it. It will never be the same with repairs imo. No telling what kind of squeaks and rattles, etc. will develop if they repair that.

Just the ones on the passenger side. The side curtain airbags, and the one behind the seat.
Funny thing here. I thought the airbag behind the seat was to protect a rear seat passenger. It's not. It deploys out to the "virtual A pillar." Don't know how protective that is, but that's what it looks like it did.
