thats a yakima rack. looks like hes got two rails for two bikes. you might be able to squeeze a 3rd up there, but i doubt it, cuz our roof is pretty narrow, id say. you would need a different set up to actually put gear/luggage up there. good luck, dupa.

for a fifth seat when the car's full? roof-mounted rocket-assist? convenient handles to carry it with? why do you think it's on there?
Up here we use cars for more than just vanity items. i like to strap my bike on and head for the mountains.
different people like different things, that doesn't mean that they're "wrong". deal with it.

Hey, the more utility people can get out of their 8's the more Mazda can sell. The more they sell they more likely they are to continue making them.

yep, it's a Yakima. you can fit two rails up there, but not more. the other downside is the rails will block the sunroof from opening fully. I had to build myself a set of risers to get that bike rail up high enough for the sunroof to clear... being an industrial designer has its perks

DOWN BOY! I'm not saying there is something wrong with it and/or that(Ihave to say I would not do it to my car).
I said "OMG I just Died" as in "It just kills me to see an RX-8 like that or looking at the pic's you posted of your smashed up 8: Man I just Died". Hope you get that fixed and every thing works out for you. As for the "Wrong" part if you want to go off roading in you RX-8 be my guest its your can. Best of luck to you.

Sorry about that, i misunderstood... not everyone on this forum is so kind.
The accident was actually last summer, so the back end's been rebuilt and you'd never know anything happened. the bodyshop did a great job with it. thanks for the note...

Its cool man I too was in a wreck. 1st one some guy in the small apartment complex I reside in parked his black SUV in a no parking fire zone. I got home from the gym at 12am. Later at 5am. I was on my way back to the gym when I seen this(See Pic's)and no SUV in site. See the guy backed into my 8 in a angle. He hit the trunk dead center then pushed it the the left. You can see the skid marks on the floor. The night pic's are at 5am. Then later at 7:30 I went back out to get some day light pic's. Sad thing is no one in the apartments said they heard anything. All but one lady.
The second wreck was from a taxi bastard...
