My rx8 got a facelift

I bought Adrian's old Mazdaspeed replica (urethane) bumper off ebay for a pretty good price. It was black and had some cracking/issues in the paint from hitting a bump or something probably, since the bumper is so flexible. Anyways, got it painted and then mounted the bumper myself this afternoon.

All in all, the fitment is OK but not great, which is expected of a replica. Took some work to get it lined up as well as it could be, but obviously isn't perfect. And the paint ended up matching PERFECTLY!! I am so excited, it matches better than the stock bumper did, which is surprising. I went into the shop with the stock bumper on and brought them the replica bumper for painting, Mazda's Ti Grey pallet didn't match very well at all, so I chose another paint code that was slightly lighter than Mazda's, and voila it matched perfect! Quite happy about that.

Cost was 99 (ebay auction) + 80 (shipping) + 271.50 (paint/labor/tax) for a total of 450.50 when all was said and done. Cost me a little less for labor since I did the mounting myself and brought it back after I mounted for the final wet-sanding and polishing. But not too shabby! Luckily I found this awesome shop that does about 99% dealership work for every dealership you can think of. They don't advertise except for word-of-mouth, and their prices cannot be beat. They did a great job for the price too!

So yah, pics...

Keep it goin. Complete the kit. You also need bigger rims to match that nose. R those 17s?

No bigger rims for me, they are 18's and 18's are big enough. Lighter than stock and wider to allow for wider tires. No reason to go up to 19's or 20's, I think that's just bad.

Side skirts maybe, rear bumper definitely not, I really don't like it.

Just my thoughts. Bigger body kit = bigger rims to fill the more dramatic wheel wells. I would agree 20 is overkill, but 19 just rite.

All the best to your progress... Im about to get into the same thing with Autobahn. Kinda like a house, remodel one thing and the thing next to it just doesn't look rite anymore!!

Yah most likely, I don't mind the side skirts at all, they're pretty nice. However I stand by my thoughts of the rear bumper, I just prefer stock over it. So far I'm not too bothered by no side skirts so it'll be at the bottom of my list. I'd rather work on other performance aspects again.

XDEEDUBBX and dBuB, play nice please. No need to continue this. Past is the past and you've voiced your opinions. No more tit for tat or you may BOTH get a time out. Let it go please.

Agreed You can get away with no rear but if you do sids it still kind of looks like your missing something. One should AT LEAST do the rear Flare things of the OEM kit... NAWM-SAYEN..

Congrats on the kit. It looks kinda uneven in the front near the hood. Like it takes a slight dip.

Yep it does, that's the only real issue I have with it right now. Going to try and rework it later but for now I can live with it.

No rear for me, only looking for sides currently. Not in any rush, but if I see something available and it's fair, I'll buy it.

you mean this? to me, paint matching dead on means diddly if your bumper looks like this.

Yeah, I don't think that quite fits on there correctly.
