Honestly, I say, props for using the Rx8 as a work car. Yeah, it's a sports car, but I personally think it's awesome to enjoy it, even while working. While antenna's bigger than the ones on any service truck I drive aren't exactly hip, I think it's cool to see an Rx8 getting used more.

And as far as the graphics, I think it's a neat start. Perhaps going the whole 9, or 10 yards would look great though. Some people will probably disagree, but I know there's a thread around here with some cars fully done up overseas, and they look nice. Yeah, they probably costed a good bit to do all of that, and probably quite a few people disagree with me on how they look, but ah well. It's all opinionated anyway.

I'm just a little more liberal when it comes to modified cars.

I don't rock the JDM EGO The Renaissance decal on my car for nothing, haha.

So I think it's a good start, for possibly adding quite a bit more. I'd say making it look aggressive as hell would be ftw.

Everybody at work loves it. My family loves it. My friends tell me it fits my personality. The only reason that antenna is so big is because it is quad band, not single. You should see my friends Honda Insite. He has so many HF antennas mounted on his bumper that wind load broke the aluminum welds.

People that see me in gas stations ask me where I got it. My wife was sceptical until she saw it on the car and now she wants me to put something on her's. Leaves blowing in the wind of all things.

Other than ONE person here at work the only people that hate it seem to be here.

Since this was the first place I posted pictures I was wondering why I liked it so much and others seem to hate it. After I have driven it around for a few days, the opinions on here don't matter anymore.

If the RX-8 is not for fun, then why have one? The OP is having fun with *his* car. It's not my taste, but it's harmless fun and easily reversable to stock, unlike many of the other mods done here without negative comment. Not worth getting worked up about, IMO. (Though it does bug me that it's "cloths" in the title and not "clothes".) YMMV

Well over 200% serious.

I appreciate a lot in the automotive world. We all obviously have what we like, and dislike.

What I like, is someone doing something with their car, to make them enjoy it more, and represent themselves better.

While I don't always like the style, I like the matter of.

There's no point in hating on someone's ride, if they honestly like it. Sure, some things are stupid, such as a VTEC Sticker on a car that isn't even a Honda, or running a Honda engine(Which I saw one on a Scion earlier..), but those are typically trolls anyway, haha.

Lastly, I could ask the same to anyone hating on anyone's respective ride.

I could heavily go into this rant, but I'll go on and stop here.

It's a sports car, most people don't expect non performance/ asthetic parts to be added ie. giant antennas. thats why you got the response you did. And peoples opinions from the internet shouldn't matter.

Some people just have really bad style, when theres a cluster of people who like that car, you might want to check your water supply, its probably contagious.

Haters? Did you expect a group of RX-8 enthusiasts to love your sticker and antenna? It's one thing for your friends to tell you they like it... But the opinions of those who love the RX-8 is a completely different matter.

Stop the madness before it's too late.

Use the thread tools menu at the top to delete this thread before it's too late.

(I think there is a expire date for deletion of threads by the OP)

I expected a little civility. 1/2 of the people that said they liked it are far from friends. They are just people that happen to work in the same building. I don't even know the names of some of them.

Flat out rudeness is a sure sign of a sick society.

I'm just glad I didn't show you the Batman mask over my brake light.

Did you really post pictures of an '8 dressed as the Ghostbusters hearse and expect everyone to admire it?

Getting all butthurt over a few comments after you ask for opinions is the true sign of where society is going!

Not everyone at work likes it - sometimes "Nice Stickers!" can be misconstrued.....

You're missing my point... People here are not only RX-8 enthusiasts, but we are car enthusiasts. We love real cars.

You shouldn't be surprised that this audience isn't fond of stickers that make this car that we all love look like a Hot Wheels toy.

It is something I would expect a 17 year old to put on their car. It doesn't say "young at heart" to me, just "young", which is very different. Also, it strikes me as something that would get old quickly. And to put it bluntly, I think it looks stupid and weird. I just don't get it. If you feel differently, as you obviously do, then we must agree to disagree.

Regarding the community here, I would say I find it to be generally harsh but fair. Sometimes maybe a bit overboard on the harsh, but I think that comes from the communal chip on the shoulder from owning a car that is largely misunderstood and underappreciated.

also all you guys have a similar taste in what is acceptable for an 8. Sad, cause that means you all are sheep. You all follow the same path and style making others not want to get one because they are cant make it their own. That's why EG/EK, R32/33/34, S13/14/15, M3, MS3, rx7 are so freaking popular. They can make their own with out getting chaffed due to "going against the grain". It's his car, he pays to have it modded, insured, and maintained, you do not. If you don't like then stfu, cause what you don't like about his car, someone doesn't like about yours.
Also, OP if you cant handle the internet, don't take the risk.

nice side graphic recognize it from a few years back.

Ok, so when racers cover their cars with stickers and wraps, that's different? Isn't that kind of stickers that Hot Wheels toys really use? Don't Hot Wheels have huge wings and ground effect skirts? I see you guys cheering that kind of mods and that's the kind I laugh at. The definition of Riced Out. You aren't being consistent at all.

Just saying.

I hope it's alright to have a link to a blog. Might help make some people think a little deeper about the "scene".

Cool

My car is pretty much the definition of Riced Out.

However, I don't ask peoples' opinions (nor experience buttangst) on here, for approval.

My car is what I want it to look like, warts and all - I crave no approval, nor temper my comments to spare your pretty little feelings.

Sorry and all that.

(are we done with this little hissyfit yet, can we move on?)

Show me where this forum is "cheering" huge wings and "riced out" RX-8's.

And if we aren't being consistent with our critiques, then what... You think everyone here is just picking on you? Awww....

Like I said, your expectations of this target audience were just out of whack. If you like your giant sticker, more power to you. But also realize that it's okay if the majority of these forum members don't like it.

Excellent link MS Addict, definitely worth the time to read. We're maybe getting a little off topic here, but one of the things I remember about having my RX-8 (I have since sold it) was that many people were genuinely excited to talk to me about it. I also found that sometimes people who had tastes that were much different than mine were just as passionate (or moreso) about cars than me. I also recognize that while an RX-8 is not outrageously expensive, it is definitely not cheap and I feel fortunate that I was able to afford it. I could rally behind people who were genuinely passionate about cars that maybe could not afford an RX-8, so they had something like a Civic or an old Prelude and did what they could. I might have found it ugly, and I wouldn't lie to people if they solicited my opinion, but it's not my car.

Also, I think it is important for modifiers to remember that they are representing an entire community and need to be aware of the ramifications. As that article mentioned, every time some kid goes out and vaporizes himself while street racing, it reflects poorly on every one of us. It puts us all on the defensive. So if you see someone that is misrepresenting the community, you are well within your right to call them out. I think this sticker is mostly (in my opinion) bad taste, and I recognize why some on here may take exception to it. Perhaps some people have gone overboard, but welcome to the internet. Every other 8 on the road is in some way projected onto your own, so if you see something you don't like, I think it's a valid reaction to take exception. Especially with a car like the 8, which is not exactly common.

Another thing I've learned is that having a nicer car than someone else does not mean you are more enthusiastic or knowledgeable about cars than them.

OK, I'm done

Where are all the people on this site that applaud everyone for being 'unique' and subscribe to the 'as long as you like it' mantra?

Personally I think the OP needs 'new clothes'. The sticker looks tacky.
