Dealer invoice for the nav is $1700.
It shows only the map, but there are hidden menus to show the sat positions, car status, and some other misc stuff that isn't much use.
Keep in mind the nav has sensors in the car, allowing it to keep tracking you even if the reception is spotty. Aftermarket units aren't going to duplicate it.

yeah, jason's right...
in poor poor weather, GPS signal is sporadic. i had a lose connector on mine, and wasnt getting GPS hardly at all, and I drove 150 miles and it tracked me perfectly the entire way.
