New bumper

Got a new bumper, also made a blog, going to use it to keep track of the 8's progress.

Check it out: http://sebuild.blogspot.com/

more pictures in the blog

Yes it is a replica, and yes it's not painted, and yes those are zip ties. Feel free to hate.

Fitment looks better especialy around the headlights and clear corners than i've seen from other replicas. Just make sure you get the black mesh grills like the MS bumper comes with, not those silver ones everyone else gets that look ricy.

Yeah, I have a black mesh, just haven't installed it yet. I was surprised with the fitment, didn't expect it to be that good, the little gaps near the corners are because there are zipties running above the clear corners lol.

I think its KBD? I'll check. Yea, its urethane, flexible and can really mess with it.

^Urethane is much better than fiberglass. It is more prone to sagging, but if you have everything bolted up right you will be fine. My side skirts are urethane and they are fine when i scrape. Front bumpers made out of fiberglass will get destoryed if they hit a curb a little too fast.

that looks great. nice job on the trade. all you have to pay for is painting. which you would have to pay for with any new front bumper.

really nice fitment.

fit's pretty good for a replica, but it looks like it's not a perfect copy of the mazdaspeed bumper, some of the lines on the bottom look different.

Yeah I see what your saying, there is a crese comming down from the clear corner, on the Authentic, it is just a smooth curv from the opening to the side of the bumper. Still looks good tho. I'm ready to see it painted!

Yeah, its no where near perfect, some of the lines seem to be overdefined, doesn't bother me tho.

looks like I'm gonna be getting it painted some time next week, the bodyshop wants $200 for sanding, prep, prime, and paint.

Same shop painted a friends bumper:

But there is a problem with the car, the red battery warning light came on and stayed on today, and on my way back home the abs light came on and steering was a bitch.

The only thing I can think of is that I just disconnected the foglights and left the wires there, could this cause the problem?

^Wow 200 for all of that? That's a very good price. Cost me $150 just to get my side skirts painted. Did you ever find out the color code for the bottom lip?

No still haven't found out the color code, I need to find out soon tho, I'll make a new thread haha. the $200 they quoted me is just for silver tho, still pretty cheap.

Anyone know why the red battery light is coming on?

$200 is a really low price. Are they giving you a discount? Hopefully they do not short change you on prep...

No clue, lol. I'll change it.

Anyone know why there is the battery light issue? The fog light only has one connection correct?

I'm not sure, I'm trying to figure out why I have the red battery light. Making sure that's not for a ground or anything.

Thanks.

200 is a really good price for getting a bumper sprayed. It's nearly impossible to find a shop out here that will do a professional job for that. I paid $500 to get two carbon fiber fenders painted.

^Yeah it's a good price down here too, I'm most likely be gettign it painted next week.

As far as the red battery light: bad news. I was driving to a friends house to check the batter, and my car died. Looks like bad alternator, got it towed to the dealership. I won't know till tomorrow.
