I know its crazy loud without a resonated cat, but what about with something like a Racing Beat dual res mid-pipe or the BHR pipe?

This is the exhaust that says for off-road use only. But it is strrt legal im pretty sure they just put that so theres no way you could put it on them if you got a ticket. But plently of people run it myself included and have not gotten tickets unless you get a mid-pipe then it gets pretty loud.

no way, its so light. I threw the system over my shoulder like it was nothing. I'd say ~15 lbs.

The weight of the HKS exhaust is 11.5 kilos(25.3 lbs) including the tip, flanges and bolts!!

The hks with my rp supercat was loud as hell, even in low rpms(from 1500 it starts to scream)! Everyone was staring when i was on the road!!
Now i have the oem exhaust with davesport cat and the increase of sound is very noticeable. I dont want to know how davesport cat sounds with hks!!

Ooooh I want to see some vids. I have the RB header and RB dual res mid, I didn't want to wait for BHR. Now that I'm street ported...im loud again...even with the dual resonators.

I know that catbacks are only going to provide a couple hp no matter what, but is there any benefit to having two mufflers instead of one? I'm strongly considering buying the HKS single, and I was just curious.

Rather tempting.

I wonder how it'll sound with a full header back set up..

Time to scour the webs.

I picked mine up used with only a few thousand miles on it, so I paid a fair bit less, but it was definitely worth it.

I loved and hated that exhaust. I had it paired with a catless, resonated midpipe. I had quite a few different exhaust combinations when I owned the 8, and the HKS single + resonated midpipe was by far my favorite when I wanted to have fun (which was fairly often in the 8). Being able to make it backfire whenever I wanted never got old. I loved how it sounded, including the volume. Hitting the redline was always a blast. It was also great for flames, especially when I used my nitrous.

My complaints about it: A bit loud for "relaxing" driving. Even for daily driving, I tended to have fun with the 8, but for distance drives or the occasional casual/relaxing drive it was a bit too loud. It was also a little loud for talking to passengers. I'm guessing other people probably considered it similar to a riced out civic, even though it does have a distinct rotary tone. The only other bad part was the empty exhaust shroud on the other side.

Oh yeah... I forgot to mention that you will never surprise anyone when you're coming. I guess that could be good or bad, depending on the situation lol. Depending on how aggressive you're driving, you'll be heard from pretty far off.

Haha, yeah. You can hear it so far off, geez. Before it comes into view.

Just like the Speedsource Rx8's. There can be a Porsche in front of you, close enough to touch practically, the Rx8's a corner or two away, and that's all you hear.

So, RB header and midpipe with it. I'd might end up running a different header, it depends, but that's pretty similar, if not, what I'd be running.

Definitely would be awesome for the autocross/track days, I could see it pissing some passengers off, haha.

I didn't know that video was with a full set up.Do you know what header and midpipe/cat set up was being ran? And if that's your's, I assume you do know. :p

Yea i was keeping it under 2500rpms as i drove off because it was maddeningly loud. Also that was a 4th gear pass from over 1/4mi away. So yea its loud. I'd swap another mid pipe in after the track.

I posted all of my mods in the video's description:
Racing Beat Header
ExoticSpeed Race Pipe
HKS HiPower Catback

More are in my vimeo cache which is linked off my blog.
