NorthWest RX8 Dyno day pics, etc.
Thanks to those who made the trip out! I think there were as many rx8 owners who just showed up to hang out, as there was who actually dyno'd. Fantastic!
Here's my car's 'before and after'...the redline is my car last year, Stock w/ M-Flash, < 3K miles
The higher line is my car today, with R-Flash, RB intake and RB Catback, and 16k miles. Fairly substantial gains in the higher rrpms, I'd say. Over-all peak power went up by 11, but more at some points in the curve - as shown the difference is greater.
Here's another - both were 1st-6th gear runs. Ignore the choppiness of the 1st few gears, the car was shaking on the rollers. Note the substantial (for a N/A RX8) increases between the two plots. This run (5th gear) was my car's highest number-reached, of 197.
partial video of that run:

Note custom intake manifold:
Group watching a very nice MS-Kit RX8 run. I say the MS kit gave him power, as he made 197whp with just a RB Catback as his only mod. Unknown flash - 27k miles.
More Black MS Kit

Silver. Downforce didn't help while on the dyno.

Guys - post up and claim your pics! I don't rememberl everyone's name, so that'd help too!

Nice pictures as always, Darin.
The first picture below your dyno charts is very interesting. If it is an RX-8, it has more than just a custom intake manifold done to it. That thing have a Hemi in it?

I LOVE ford Engines. :D
I How did YOU get back so quickly, Kevin?? lol...I got to my Dad's for taxes in Kent around 3:20...left there at 4, got home and started fixing pics and vids.
:D
And yeah, w/ my new 5.4L Kenne Bell SC'd V8, I've lost my car's 50/50 weight distro - it's worth it, however.

Raw scans from Carb Connection
I picked up 16.9 RWHP and 6.2 FT/LBS of Torque over last year. Mods are Unorthodox Pulleys and the CZ. My fuel map is not perfect, and the timing map is zeroed. I did not have time to get the Innovative Wideband installed to properly tune the maps. I used an older fuel only map, and it looks like 13.3 at the peak HP. Need to fine tune it now. The only other bolt on I could add will be the header.

This really bothers me - Note TaeYung's dyno (blue) over-lapped with one of my runs.
TWENTY-SIX HP difference...and wtf is up w/ my A/F ratio????
I'm REALLY hoping the 11K miles more his car has is the difference.

On my car's motor? I expect 200whp eventually - or, 238hp at the flywheel - what the car SHOULD have had, stock.
:D
Actually, the engine was from a Mustang Cobra - 550whp, if I recall.

Darrin: I think part of the difference comes in the way the ECU handles the closed loop to open loop transition. Yours went into open loop later than his....the leaner A/F in closed loop won't make as much power. Your A/F was the same ater the transition. It seems that the load variable with time must alter the transition point. If you can remember if you went straight into 5th without a coastdown....or if you had a wait to drop the startup RPM it might give us an idea what happened. I got the scanner working on the way home(...and got some tires too )as per usual I really wanted to get logged runs that would have shown us a lot of the data that we need to see what the variations are caused by.
Better luck next time I guess
