perhaps the reason they have such a bad rep of bad customer service is because the entire Vivid staff spent too much time ricing out this RX8. Ike linked some good threads on their work ethic...ridiculous.

 

I so sick of the "rice" comment being thrown around, maybe you should of thought before you have bought the car. This just in YOU BOUGHT A HIGH END RICE CAR. I understand you may not like the "ricer" parts, but that is the main culture or stereotype for this type of car. Look at the 3rd gen cars with fast and the furious. It is stereotyped that type of car. It would be like driving a older Trans Am and getting pissed off because of a mullet or redneck comment. I am just so sick of the bitching.

i agree...the term rice is way too overated... Rice is what started this culture whether people like it or not. Not until a few years ago 90% of the people on this forum only realized hooking up imports is cool. Know your roots.

 

And the term rice has now been used as this; I do not like your tire tread pattern therefore, your car is rice. Oh, and your car came with a factory wing, plus navagation unit so it is rice.

Get over it. The car is ment to grab peoples attention at events and shows. How can a company do that with a stock 8 with aftermarket wheels that look factory? 99% will just overlook it. It is a show car and Vivid stated they will drift and race the car like they do all their others (which are very very clean cars). Take it for what it is.

I'm curious as to what culture rice started? Performance mods? hell no rice didn't start any of that, it's been going on since the age of the automobile. So, you must be referring to the tasteless appearance mod culture. I'll agree with that. "hooking up imports" with over the top body kits and neon lights is not cool, it's lame. I understand it's need in this case, as mentioned, to draw attention, but most of the time, it's just as stupid looking as the owner.

 

I think we should be flattered they used "are car", and if the cars were all the same that would be boring

 

Tasteless doesn't imply unique. Nor is it a requirement. One can make thier car unique, make it fit their personality, without it looking ridiculous. Then again, the people I have met with cars like this for personal use, are pretty ridiculous, so maybe they can't.

 

but that is your opinion, and that is what makes this forum great. But I happen think stock sucks. and again that is my opinion.

 

Stock does suck, but so does over the top. Like you said, it's a matter of opinion.

 

That's a pretty general statement. Most people that own cars of this nature turn out to be some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. They definitely can be rediculous if provoked. :D

whoa slow down there..your putting words in my mouth! Whether you like it or not you drive rice, I drive rice, we all drive rice. I did not say rice started performance mods. I was generally speaking about modifying japanese imports. Not only until recently did it become very popular. Im from so cali and have been around it for quite some time. So cali is where all the import showoffs' hot import nights all started. I remember when back in the day it was cool to have 5 inch fart cans in the back of your car, whale tale wings, shopping cart wings, racing stripes, vinyl stickers, all of that. Of course like all fads they tend to die out. Then you have the people that just realized that stuff was cool 2-3 even 5years later. You can call them Posers or even rice. Those are the type of people that give the term rice a bad name. I don;t consider myself rice or anything like that but before you refer to the term rice, you have to know where it all came from.

Well Xdeed, we don't all drive rice. I don't consider rice any japanese car. Modifying japanese imports can be linked to modifying cars in general. It's really nothing new, at all. The only new thing I see in this "rice culture" is the absolutely ridiculous fashion mods that look like they add performance but don't.

 

I can't believe its come to this "RICE". Who cares if you throw a fart can, Racing strips,Big wings etc.. on your car. Its such a childish issue. Is this High school, where we make fun of people and group them? What's next?? What about them turbo guy?? What about them blings blings and sterio pumping guys?? what about them STOCK guys?? It just goes on and on!!! We are already getting heat for the other car clubs..

It comes down to what you like. What makes you happy. Every one's taste are different.
If something is not to your taste does not mean its wrong.
