Lock & Load,

Very nice pics! and very nice car! Also very nice beach!

Well, coming from full-blooded Japanese, your kanji does not make any sense at all. They are just individual Kanji put togeter and combined, they don't have any meaning. Like you said, they just read "KI", "Hebi", "Kaze".

Also, "KI" can mean many different things. Just look up the real Japanese-English dictionary.

き【気】
1 〔空気〕air;〔大気〕the atmosphere
2 〔雰囲気〕an atmosphere
3 〔風味〕《米》a flavor,《英》a flavour;〔におい〕a smell

Someone said they are not true Japanese Kanji, he's right. Especially the first letter "Ki" is written in a Chinese way.
"Snake" looks OK, but "Wind" is also written in either Chinese way or hand-written-with-brush way. Another words, you won't find this font in newspapers or print publications.

If you like them, good for you! But they are not "true" Japanese writing and I have to grin everytime someone makes this type of false assumption. But that's OK. That don't bother me at all.

Here's some nice story: when I was in college, I had a friend who owned Jeep Cherokee. I made a sticker with Japanese Kanji that read "Ji - i - pu", roughly pronounced "Jeep". It consisted of 3 kanjis. First two was "Ji" (self, myself) and "I" (console, solace), and put together, it ment ************. Last kanji, "pu" (husband, man) sealed his fate. All put togeter, it ment "Masterbating man", but Japanese can read it and pronounce it as "Jeep".
He loved it! He had that sticker on his windshield for few semesters, until some chinese student politely pointed out he charactors meaning. It was a very funny thing to do. This was way back in 1994 where you did not see any of these on cars.

Just be careful what you put on your car. It could mean something stupid or offensive to someone with asian background.

L&L - I took a day off from the forum and come back to a four page thread! Really got some folks wound up, but IMO - putting yourself and your car out there for everyone to see is respectable and shows confidence in who you are. Keep on, keeping on!

Now that I've said my piece - Thanks for the additional photos of your homeland. You're killin' me over here, pal!! Those pictures of the beach and water are awesome!!! I showed them to my girlfriend and she immediately asked if I wanted to take a vacation! There goes the savings account. Thanks L&L! :D

Lock and Loaded,

From one Yellow to another, Nice pics! I visited Autralia a few years ago while traveling the Pacific as I am a Chief in the U.S. Navy and those pics bring back some very good memories (your speaking the truth on American men doing very well there). Live life to it's fullest and keep learning new things (I know I did here about Japanese/Kanji, even after living in Japan for 3 years!). Keep posting pics till they shut you down, Love them!

Michael-- First of all, as a latecomer to this thread, I'll just say very nice yellow 8. You've done a good job adding the kanjis and whatever to the car, and I respect your self-expression. As you ozzis say, good on ya, mate! I've lived in Japan and Australia, and your pics make me so "homesick" I could just buy a flight over today!

A few particulars: LOVE that number sticker! I have kinda wondered about doing that on my 8, but I doubt it's legal in the States. Just hate to block up that front intake with that gawd-awful plate...

As to the whole kanji issue, it's great when those who know this stuff better help us out, not just telling us it's wrong. I lived in Japan, and learned enough kanji and hiragana to get on the right trains, but I'm no expert. IMHO, it has been said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and I think it is ok for someone who respects a culture to adopt its icons.

I used to crack up about the messages the teens in Japan used to wear on the backs of their jackets, based on direct but awkward translation into english-- just gibberish for the sake of having english on your jacket.

And the James Dean looking bosoosoku at Ueno park were very cool. Is it ridiculous to have Japanese kids dressing like 1950s Americans? Your call, but they were having fun with that self-expression. So if you cover your car with kanji, or cave drawings, or celtic runes, (just not "maturbating man" :D) have a ball! And say hi to QLD for me...

Made a mistake with the nameit should read .

"YELLOW SNAKE FULL OF ENERGY FAST AS THE WIND"

As i do not wish to offend anyone especially as i will be studying a japanese style of martial art called :SHORINJI KEMPO I WAS WONDERING IF YOU COULD BE KIND ENOUGH TO GIVE ME THE CORRECT KANJI THAT I MAY PLACE ON MY CAR .
Cheers

Hey,

These are great pics! My fav is the one where you have the 'real thing' next to the little model.

Keep up the good work! And i think that it's cool that you have Asian symbols on your car (and i'm Asian).

i was just about to say! i'm pretty good at telling the difference between Chinese and Japanese characters and those don't look Japanese to me...Japanese Kanji is much simpler than that...well whatever floats your boat i guess...although most ppl would presume that a yellow car with Chinese symbols all over it, no performanace parts - not even the appearance package or a spoiler, a black strip of sticker under the foglights to represent fake air ducts would probably make it seem like a young Asian teenager driving it and not a grown white man...honestly, no offense L&L, you liking the Asian culture is a complement in the sincerest form but most ppl just wouldn't understand that...

ps - umm, btw...you were in trouble with the Yakuza and now you're buddies with a Yakuza boss? care to share details?

L&L, I'm impressed with your free spirit.

Have you ever thought about getting a mullet? It would really go well with your personality.. You know, free spirit, sort of a rebel, doesn't give a **** what people think.. Seriously I think you'd rock with a mullet, don't you guys??? You'd look great with a mullet.

BTW, nice color choice, yellow rocks..

yellow-fever all the way, man...

HECK I DIDNT realize we had forum members who are experts on internet personality analysis .

Never needed a mulet to be different or to try and stand out , it comes naturally .

Yeah i find a lot of people restrain themselves for what ever reason (fear , low self worth ,esteem and this effects them in finding real happiness and contentment in their lives.

REBEL at the age of 50 yeah i suppose i have more energy and get up and go then some people halve my age .

As far as yellow fever yeah i love asian ***** but the asian men dont ,really do much for me .ha ha ha.

Algonquin is about 45 miles west and north from the Big City of Chicago. Here we have the Fox River where we can do some boating but river's are a little dirty! Pretty but not the most ideal to do water sports! I am in the wrong area.....too cold for me! Love to visit Australia...long trip though!! I will have to check out the Gold coast website. Wendy

This is the official web page for the goldcoast city

http://www.goldcoast.qld.gov.au/

There are heap of other good ones as well .

Yeah the trip from chicago will probably take 22 hours approximately to get to Australia but you could always stop in hongkong or singapore .

This would make it easier for you and your son .

As i said to another forum member whats 22 hours in the overall span of a persons life???

Anyhow if you do decide to come to Australia and want to visit the goldcoast we can help you with your accomodation food etc.

My wife would like the idea of another lady in the house .

She is currently totally out numbered by males myself and our 3 boys and 2 male desexed cats.ha ha ha

I am certain it would be an unforggetable experience for both you and your son.

Cruzdreamer ( WENDY)

Sorry i left out your hubby in the invitation but he is also welcome.

We also have a RE/MAX OFFICE HERE ON THE GOLDCOAST .

Since the gold coast is a popular tourist destination if he exchanged e-mails letters etc with the re/max office OR SOME OF THE MANY OTHER AGENCIES , your family trip could be used as a TAX DEDUCTION , and there is a possibility of him getting AMERICAN INVESTORS TO INVEST on the goldcoast.

This is their web address
www.remax.com .au.
they are situated in BRISBANE 1 HOURS DRIVE FROM GOLDCOAST.

THIS COULD BE A GOOD INCENTIVE TO GET YOU AND YOUR FAMILY OUT OF THE WINTER.
