I swear I saw a picture of a white 8 with eyelids on the taillights. My search has been fruitless and I need you help finding this picture. Thanks in advance.

Oh and I'd also appreciate your throughts regarding eyelids on the taillights. I remember them looking really squinty and mean - no more bishop's hat.

 

if you don't like the busy look, you can always tint them.. i've never seen taillight eyelids before

 

yeah, haven't seen eyelids on the tails, ever.

i put a light tint on them, so you can still see the cool detail, but it's not quite so "euro" looking. that might be an option you'd like.

hmm... tail light eyelids... that's a new one to me...

 

The only thing that comes to mind is Mad Mike's wide body 8 where they tinted or painted the top of the tail lights.

to the OP. never seen eyelids on the tails but i've seen a few tinted dark and even a few tinted red. i like the look of the red tinted ones actually.

I've been thinking about some kind of eyelid for the tails as well, maybe Rotr8 will come up with some for us I wonder if there is any vinyl out there that would match the Ti-gray paint close enough for a temp setup?

 

ive seen it on the str4's before but cant really see a good design for the rx8 tails.

i considered it, but ran into a major problem in that design. I couldn't figure out a clean line for the sides of the tail lights (as if you were looking from the side of the car, not the rear) because of the way the casing curves. Just won't work cleanly IMO.

I really don't like the tinted look of rear lenses unless it's on a black car. What I was thinking was of eyelids kinda like this (sorry for the bad photoshop!):

 

im not keen on that at all. it doesnt flow with the lines of the car, the lines of the tail light and just generally looks ricey in my opinon.

i should add, the rest of the car is beautiful. you should keep it that way.
