Pictures: First tripp with my RX-8 for this year
This is my garage where my car has been sleeping in the last 6 months, I was onfocused at work the hole day before.
A Oil and other lubricates check before starting her up for the first time this year.
She started right away and a nice rotary sound spread in the garage. What? has the cars cockpit shrinken during the winter? well I think I need to be on a strikt diet for some months
The feeling of starting her up was like when I bought her and drived for the first time! lovely.
One of my updates for this year Mazda OEM fender strakes in satin aluminium.
another update, B pillar with rotary logo from rx8strakes.com
Autosol is Gods gift to mankind! enough of looking, lets go!
After 1,5 hour I took a break in a small westcost town called Grebbestad (Sweden). I love my RX-8, what a wonderful car!
It didnt took long before she was dirty. a little bit early to take her out but she is booked for a Mazda VIP show later this week so I wanted to see so everthing was ok.
This is a nice view, love to see a engine hood again.
A short stop after I just stressed a SAAB 9-5 owner to almost put his car in the ditch trying to getaway from my car.
The sportcars owners best friend, a Shell tank truck with V-Power 99 Octane.
Just when it started to rain I hitted back home happy as never before
Nice and clean again, damn I love this car! the spring is comming soon now

Aha, well I payed 13,50 Swedish crowns for 1 Litre of V-Power 99 Octane.
$1 = 6,20 Swedish Crowns right know.
It is expensive as hell with cars here in sweden. RX-8 costs 400.000 Swedish crowns and the taxes, insurance is sky high. But its worth every penny =)

anyway, great pics OP, is it lowered or is it just me?

Thanks guys.
My car is lowered 60mm and you can guess how the winter is here in Sweden so I really dont have a choise =)
About driving on long tripps is of course no problem with a RX-8, its more bad for the car to take it one mile instead of 100...
I have traveled 40-50 miles without any problems.

I agree I don't know why the dealer would tell you that. I have driven about 1000 over a long weekend without any issues at all. Of course you should be checking your oil frequently.
Azathoth, where do you live in sweden? I will probably be moving there later this year and I am trying to figure out now if it is worth it for me to bring my 8. Its an 04 with almost 100k KM. How much do you think it would be worth? Do you think it will be hard to find a decent mechanic in the Norrkoping area? I am also concerned for using it as a daily driver with gas prices being much higher in Sweden then here in the US. I do love the fact that gas is a much higher octane over there. It would be interesting to see a properly tuned turbo setup with 99 octane gas.

The Rotary engine is not really much different than it's Piston counterpart in a lot of aspects. Just because it is different doesn't mean it sucks.
The engine can't take long journeys with ease, along with the high RPMs *as EVERYBODY should know*. As long as you keep up on your fluids you will be 100% fine on those long trips.

I live close to Stenungsund about 5miles from Gothenburg.
Hard to give a precise number, but if its in good condition maybe 200.000 swedish crowns. But remember you do not need to pay those import taxes if you bring it with you. So I think you can make some money if you want to sell it. How mutch does an RX-8 cost in USA?
There are some really good rotary tuners in Stockholm so finding an good mech. on east coast is no problem, its worse on the west coast but I have teached my local mazda shop.
Alot of RX-8 owners drive them all year here but mine is too damn low, Only you can know if you can afford to have it as a daily driver. I have an Nissan Micra as a second car and that saves alot of money on the boring part of year (its no fun driving nice cars in the winter anyway if its not an Mitsubishi Evo, Impreza etc).
There are some nica forced injection cars in sweden, I know some with Greddy Turbo bolton but Supercharger is more common here.
The RX-8 get 13Hp more at the wheel with 99 octane instead of regular 95.

I personally drove my (used) RX-8 about 1000 miles in the first two days of ownership (Madison, WI resident and purchased/drove from Richmond, VA).
If you doubt that rotaries can handle long distance trips, read the wikipedia article on the 787b.
