Pictures of my burnt clutch, and new clutch

Here's a few pictures of my burnt clutch, the pressure plate also has signs of abuse, the bearing is alright (the clutch is sitting inside of the pressure plate, the bearing to the bottom right).

Here's the new clutch... (Exedy organic stage 1)

if the top photo is of your burnt clutch the disk is not burnt. i looks more like the pressure plate had loose bolts.

Naw, it's burnt. Note the purple/blue heat marks, like I said - the pressure plate had heat marks as well, as did the flywheel. Nothing was loose.

are you refering to the color of the center of the disk????? that is not where the heat is....

and if you search it is that color to start.

when you burn a disk it has a very glazed over look... got shots of the pp and flywheel??????

how many miles when this happened. sorry i could search, but it is your thread.

and that is a photo of a stock mazda disk??????

got one of those.... this has been covered before.....

note. the new disc that you paid to much for and the old one, the friction surface look the same... if the disk was bad or burnt it would look like glass, glazed over....

got pics of the pp or flywheel????

No, I dumped them after I took these pictures. They had heat marks, but nothing was loose. The clutch disc is burnt, for the 100th time - as I was told by 4 mechanics, all from AAMCO.

you got me..

you are right..

the clutch and pressue plate can be bought for less than 300 bucks.

and the dealer can replace a clutch for less than 700.....

sorry. you have it all figured out, no wait did you replace the flywheel???? why would you change a clutch and not????

I paid $370 for the clutch, with pressure plate, and bearing.

I paid AAMCO just about $700 to have it installed. $70/hour for 8 hours, 3 Mazda dealerships in my area wanted $90/hour - same ammount of time (it's listed in a guide).

Bringing the car to a Mazda dealer to look at, would have most likely voided the rest of my warranty, note the ABUSE HEATMARKS on the clutch disc, and flywheel + pp (not pictured).

It would have also taken a much longer time, in the long run - Mazda has no idea I had a clutch replaced, let's leave it that way.

It's just like getting brake pads warrantied, if you abuse them, the rotors show signs of heatmarks where the mechanic/shop/manufacture will most likely void your lifetime warranty.

By the way, that's $700 with redline transmission gear oil, and a resurfaced flywheel and 50,000 mile warranty on labor.

I didn't purchase a new flywheel to avoid aftermarket parts that become essential to my warranty, hence if I needed a new transmission in the future - they could have refused to do it under warranty. Even though there is a rule stating they must prove that the damage to the transmission was done by the aftermarket product, if not they cannot refuse to replace the item.

Unfortunatly the flywheel is in my car, and the pressure plate was thrown out today. I'll get it out tomorrow (it's still in the exedy box) and snap a pic or two.
