You went to AAMCO?

Of course they told you it was burnt - they wanted your money.
Your old plate was definitely NOT burned. Slightly worn, but normal.
If you had actually ever seen a bruned clutch, you would know this.
Enjoy your lightned wallet.

The car didn't operate, it had to be towed. The pressure plate was also NOT normal, you have also not seen the other side of the clutch (I didn't feel like taking out out from the pressure plate, it's extremely dirty).

The pressure plate had the most damage.

What were the actual run-out numbers for the old clutch disc? How about the pressure plate?
Was the Marcel tested?
What was the machine depth on the new flywheel?
What pilot bearing did they use?

ok so you got a recpiet from the machine shop that resurfaced you flywheel????
it is not like brakes..

wait you have an aftermarket clutch in you car it voids you warranty.... i saw pics of it.

Bart, swoope is right there has been plenty of other threads on this board that have shown that the stock disc has the same color yours does from the factory. Now, considering the other thread you have about your tranny being messed up, why would you not believe the people on this board? The people on this board:

1. Aren't taking your money.
2. Haven't already screwed you overlike AAMACO
3. Probably more knowledgable than the mechanics that just worked on your car from AAMACO, because obviously they messed something up in your tranny, or you wouldn't have warranty coverage trying get it fixed at Mazda.

Good Luck

That clutch doesn't look burned at all - just...old and worn. If the disc shown were cleaned, it'd be easier to see how the whole thing is blue.

Nevermind how the clutch disc failed...note the colour?

here are some pictures of a brand new rx8 clutch. the blue-ish color indicates nothing.

Quit the flaming. The point of this forum is to help others as opposed to ridiculing them. The whole point of Swoope flaming is a futile attempt to impress other posters with his opinion of what's going on with a stranger's case. Tergiversate from your assholish ways and perhaps Bart! (probably reeling that he didn't know the information that he's being flooded with at this point before he made a purchase [not saying he shouldn't have researched it beforehand]) will learn from this.

Garner some maturity, all of you.

Peace bitches.

Maybe people should have thicker skin? That way, we could all have FUN flaming.

Know what Brett Favre said after GB won the coin-toss before the Seahawks/Packers game last sunday?

"We want the ball and we're going to score."

Hasselbeck didn't call in a moderator to 'warn' Brett...he laughed it off.

Why would you go to AAMCO? Why would it take 8 hours? Hmmm, I hate hourly paid mechanics...

I read this from the beginning...swoope seemed informative to me...he gave a pretty honest assessment of the situation...

it degraded after a bit, but i think this was initiated by the poster...
